Months, weeks and even days leading up to your wedding day, you should follow a skincare timeline to ensure your complexion is a clear canvas, which is the best base for makeup application. Benefit from six months of stress-relief, proper nutrition and hydration with these tips:

Cleanse – Start your mornings off with applying a dime-sized amount of gentle cleanser to your face. Rinse with lukewarm water and dry. Three times a week, end your evenings with an exfoliation. After all, summer brings unwanted sweat and SPF buildup that traps dead skin cells. Apply a grainy scrub to open pores. Rinse with lukewarm water and dry. Beware of over-exfoliating, which can strip your natural oils and lead to flaky, dry skin.

Tone – After you cleanse, use an alcohol-free toner to balance your skin’s pH level. Look for a toner that contains vitamins A, C, and E, which can stimulate cell production and renewal, and ingredients such as aloe and hazel, which can add a refreshing feeling and tightening to the skin.

Moisturize  – Last but not least, moisturize your skin to treat flaky, dry skin caused from any over-exfoliating. Moisturizer retains water and provides a barrier to the outermost layer of your skin, which leads to smoother and softer skin.

Conceal – If you’re acne-prone or can’t get rid of those dark circles under your eyes, apply tried-and-true salicylic acid so bacteria can no longer flourish and cause breakouts and apply a thin layer of retinol to even tones, respectively.

Shape – The number one rule when it comes to shaping your eyebrows: don’t over pluck. Instead, follow the slight arch to give them a natural look. It will open your eyes and give your makeup artist a place for eyeshadow on the brow bone.

Streaks – Self-tanner and a UV-free faux tan are skin savers and safer, but that can go away quickly, ultimately leaving streaks. Erase streaks with a self-tanner remover or take an opposite approach by filling streaks with liquid bronzer.
