Wedding Aces Bridal Buds

At first glance this video has all the makings of a hit rom-com. A beautiful wedding, hilarious speeches, great music, and of course, Kevin Hart.  Much like the movies she’s starred in, Gabrielle Union’s wedding to  Dwyane Wade at Chateau Artisan in Miami, Florida on August 30, was the perfect blend of romance and fun. The first thing that made our jaws drop? The venue. The actress and her longtime basketball superstar love married at a modern-day castle surrounded by a moat, a perfect fit for the rom-com princess. The bride was walked down the aisle in a strapless sweetheart ball gown by Dennis Basso by Dwyane’s two sons and his nephew. Of course, no celebrity wedding is complete without the vocals of John Legend, who performed the ceremony music. A reception followed in a big room with floor-to-ceiling windows where Kevin Hart toasted the couple. Gabrielle herself also made a speech telling guests “dreams do come true,” which was followed by a gospel choir performance. Guests, which included Ludacris, ended the night by showing off their best moves on the dance floor. Talk about an uplifting reception!

Julia and Seth were married at Los Poblanos Inn in Albuquerque, N.M. on May 9. “It captured the many facets of New Mexico’s beauty in one location,” Julia said. The bride wore a lace fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown with a plunging v-neck, accessorized with a floor-length veil and a pair of rhinestone-infused bow pumps, while the groom wore a dark gray suit, accessorized with a solid necktie. Don’t they look like fashion models! Bridesmaids wore short pale blue chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of garden roses, peonies, and succulents. Before the ceremony, the couple opted for a first look. “Seeing the faces of the people I hold nearest and dearest to my heart as I walked toward and down the aisle with my dad was my favorite moment,” she said. Following the exchange of vows and rings underneath enormous cottonwood trees, Seth couldn’t help but show his excitement by fist pumping. The newlyweds’ best advice? “Make sure you really like your vendors,” Julia said. “You will be working with them A LOT. We lucked out with phenomenal ones, which made the planning experience that much more enjoyable.” The reception was held outside on the fireplace terrace. Tables were decorated with white linens, glass jar centerpieces, and sprigs of lavender at each place setting’s menu card. Fun fact: It symbolizes love and devotion. In addition to dancing to the sounds of Vanilla Pop in the grand ballroom, there was also a garter and bouquet toss. The cake cutting went off without a hitch – no smearing in each other’s faces — and at the end of the night, they exited amongst a sea of sparklers ready for their honeymoon road trip to Alaska.

Cate + John

August 2010

Nashville, TN

“Cate and John’s reception at Cedarwood was a one-of-a-kind celebration that lavished guests with an elegant  garden gala that flowed through several areas of the property.  Cate’s color palette and custom paisley fabric runners were perfectly complimented with green orchid adorned branches, fresh pears and hanging candles. Paper lanterns over the dance floor piled on style.  Stunning! We loved the simple but sophisticated cake design by Patty Cakes, adorned with green hydrangea flowers.  The whimsical napkin motif states the obvious: Cate and John are a “perfect pair.”  Cate and John made sure their guests were comfortable and even brought flip flops to replace those high heels so there would be no excuses for not dancing all night!” –The Cedarwood Design Team
