	Would you have an “Unplugged” Wedding?

What’s an “unplugged” wedding? This is when a couple asks their guests to turn off all electronic devices, including, cellphones, smart phones and cameras, during their ceremony and reception.

Why do this? Having an “unplugged” wedding allows for the professional photographers and videographers to do their job and allows for your guests to be more present and not be distracted by uploading their own photographs to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

great initiative than this poll ! Really looking forward to see the result. It’s really important for the couples to be aware it can ruins their wedding film & photographs. Not just because guests appears with their devices in hands on the “official” photos but also because it disconnect the guest from the spirit of the ceremony.

That is totally selfish. I would never ask that of my guests. They are already giving their whole day to my event. This is crazy.

I would never ask this of my guests. I think some of my best and most memorable photos are from the guests and their cameras and their phones. Yes it is nice to have the professional photos but having the fun photos the guests took are more fun to look at.

Yes! I was at a wedding 2 weeks ago and the cameras and cell phones were out of control. The hired photographers were getting very frustrated. The guest were ruining the professionals beautiful shots and getting in their way. I could tell they would have the perfect shot and then a flash from someone else’s camera would go off and ruin it. Not to mention all the people standing up in the middle of the ceremony in the way trying to take a picture.
It made my fiance’ and I decide right there that we would make an announcement to have no personal cameras or photos done by our guests. If we are paying that much money for a photographer and a videograher, then we don’t want to ruin their work.
Trust me, it was so distracting, the picture up above does not do justice to how crazy it was at this wedding.

I’m getting married next week and were actually telling our guests to take video and send it to us. Since we can’t afford to get a videographer we though what better way to get our guests involved. And get video from all different angles.

While I don’t necessarily like the chaos..instead of asking them to completely put away their devices, what I will ask is that they:

1) STAY OUT OF THE PROS way!!!!!!! nothing is more irritating that if you hire a pro, and some friend or family ruins every pic! Like get a grip, and move out their way!
2) Please do not upload my photos/videos until I have requested you to do so
3)Have a heart and understand that if the couple asks for no more pics on your phone/camera/whatever, they simply just don’t want anymore.

To completely cut it out..I doubt I could do that, because I love seeing different angles and aspects of the same thing. As long as people at my wedding adhere to those rules above, we are good to go.

Just a thought – but they are supposed to be there to support the wedding couple, not indulge in their own whims. They are adults – I think they should be able to understand that without hurt feelings.
