After you’ve selected your dress, it’s time to start thinking about how you’re going to wear your hair  – and what, if any, accessories you’ll use to complete the look. With so many choices it’s hard to decide which hair accessory will look best with your gown – and wedding style. It’s important to try on any hair accessories with your gown before purchasing and to bring your hair accessory to your hair trial appointment  so your stylist will be able to plan accordingly. And if you can’t decide between two hair accessories? Why not wear one for the ceremony and switch into the other for the reception! Here are some ideas for wedding hair accessories and when they look best:

A Traditional Long Veil: Veils come in many lengths including shoulder, sweep, chapel, and cathedral, and either with or without a blusher, which covers the face. Veils typically look best in traditional settings like houses of worship or ballrooms, but be careful of a long veil at an outdoor wedding – if it’s windy, the veil might become unwieldy.

Flower: Fresh or fabric flowers can look great whether your hair is up, down, or half-up. They look particularly appropriate at outdoor, garden or beach weddings.

Tiara or Jeweled Headband: Best for traditional settings like houses of worship or ballrooms. But beware: If your gown is already super-bejeweled, skip the tiara – you don’t want to go too overboard with the sparkle.

Crystal Comb or Pin: If you’re looking for just a hint of sparkle, try a comb or hairpin. Depending on the size of the piece, these work well in most wedding settings.

Birdcage Veil: A short net veil that covers the face provides a vintage-inspired look. These veils often look best with simpler, less adorned gowns.

Nothing at All: You don’t have to wear anything in your hair! A gorgeous hairstyle can look beautiful unadorned for a clean, modern look.
