The most traditional wedding gown fabric, designers used lace as the primary fabric and as an accent. Briefly acknowledging that the source of this inspiration could have come from Kate Middleton’s wedding dress (see The Middleton Effect), lace has historically been associated with the classic bridal look.
Variations of lace from Alencon to Chantilly and beyond were featured in some interesting ways. Vera Wang showed gowns made of black lace, Ines Di Santo had lace under a transparent dress and Monique Lhuillier accented horsehair bows with lace.
