Romantic, Dreamy South Carolina Backyard Wedding

James Island, South Carolina

From the Photographer: “The wedding was held in the groom’s close friend’s backyard on James Island. Green grass, oak trees, and beautiful city views are just some of the features of this venue – plus, the couple was married on the evening with the largest full moon of the year. For me, the kiss at the ceremony was quite powerful. The officiant had to tell the groom several times “Not yet, Mike!” But once he got approval, Mike lifted Katie up while kissing her.”

All this week, we’ve been inspired by the Fourth of July holiday. We shared red, white, and blue wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses, as well as a super-patriotic real wedding. To kick off the weekend, we thought we’d share one more piece of red, white, and blue wedding inspiration in the form of this style shoot which took place on the shores of Lake Superior in Marquette, Michigan. We love the preppy, whimsical details – particularly the striped table runners, the “sign-in oar,” and the message in a bottle decor.

Hotel Bel-Air, Los Angeles

There’s nothing like a classic LA wedding with just the right touch of Hollywood glamour. We’re loving the gorgeous outdoor ceremony space, the lush florals, and the modern gray bridesmaid dresses.

From the photographer: “This wedding was held at the recently renovated Hotel Bel-Air. The new hotel interiors have been described as fun, fresh and elegant. The ceremony was set in a non-traditional manner facing the hotel’s famous jewel-like Swan Lake surrounded by lush trees and gardens, including a 100 year-old Sycamore tree.”

Black, White, and Elegant All Over!

Elegance comes in all colors, shapes, and sizes, but if I had to choose a color combination that always eludes elegance, it would be black and ivory (or white). While this color combination does not work for everyone (and we recommend it for formal, evening, weddings); you can certainly gather some ideas and then have your accent color be something vibrant if you’re not in to a solely monochromatic look!

Winter White Tablescape Inspiration

About this Inspiration Shoot: Inspired by falling snow, this tablescape takes wedding guests to a winter landscape surrounded by pillow soft textures and decorative winter elements such as pine cones, ornaments and snow. Monochromatic color schemes for weddings are becoming more and more popular as brides realize you can get more overall effect by using one color in abundance. C&A Event Planning organized all the decorative elements and coordinated with the vendors involved about the overall theming, monochromatic white and silver palette. Classic Party Rentals of Virginia provided the linens that complimented this texture rich look with a mixture of contrasting metallic and soft fabrics. The backdrop of ‘The Lodge’ at Stevenson Ridge is made up of reclaimed and recycled antique wood, which made for a beautiful and warm space perfect for a fireside dinner. To complete the collaboration, Anthomanic added their floral decor to the table and mantle. The silver was even an inspiration for the greenery used, dusty miller, which has a silver appearance. Rounded, fluffy blooms such as peonies, roses, hydrangea and phalaenopsis orchids are a perfect choice for this setting. Crystalized and sparkling decorative elements such as snow and glitter pine cones placed throughout the table also add a touch of winter as they shimmer in the candlelight. Accented with white birch branches as well as tubes of crystal clear water, we created an overall feeling of being surrounded by ice, crystals and mounds of fallen snow!
