Q&A with the Bride:

Which details from your wedding were your favorites?

The first detail that was one of my favorites was my dress!  Ever since I first tried it on I never wanted to take it off.  When I put it on for our wedding, I just couldn’t believe that I was lucky enough to be wearing such a gorgeous dress.  The second detail would be that we were able to have our fur babies in the wedding.  We had thought of the idea a long time ago, but we just didn’t know how everything would work out.  In the end we were so happy we put the dogs in the wedding.  Our two Siberian Huskies, Samson and Mya, were perfect, and they looked so cute with Samson wearing his light blue bow tie and Mya wearing her light blue and brown tutu.  The last detail, which I am so grateful for is that all of our closest family and friends were able to attend.  We weren’t sure how that would work out with us choosing a destination wedding, but when they all showed up to celebrate with us it just made our day even more special.

Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

The moment that I can’t stop thinking about is the moment where my dad and I first turned the corner to walk down the aisle.  I will never forget this moment for two reasons: the first is seeing Ryan’s face at the end of the aisle.   Words cannot describe the emotions that were pouring from his face at that point.  When I saw his face, I saw all of the genuine and pure love that he has for me, and at that point I knew how wonderful of a man I was about to marry.  The second reason I love this moment is because I had the first man I would ever love, my dad, walking me down the aisle to meet the man who would take his place, and he never faltered one step.  My dad was there for me at that pivotal moment, fully supporting me and my decision to get married, which just showed how deep his love for me is.  So to be in that moment with the two men who love me the most was just breathtaking.

Our Q&A with the Bride:

What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

We really wanted a venue that was unique, had character and could fit our 300 person guest list.  Everything at Fountain Square Theatre from the overall vintage vibe, to the balcony for cocktail hour to the marquis to announce our event really made the venue one of a kind and set the tone for our wedding day.

Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

My three favorite details were the flowers, my dress (can I wear it again somewhere?!) and our beautiful photos that help me relive the wedding day everyday.

Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

My favorite moment was when the DJ really got the reception kicked off and we could dance and have fun with our family and friends.  We can honestly say we had a blast at our wedding!

Our Q&A with the Bride:

Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

It’s really hard to pick just three!  The whole day really was perfect and we are so grateful to everyone who was involved.

1. There was a memorial candle, lit by my sister/maid of honor, for my father who had recently passed away.

2. My mom walking me down the aisle – not what I had always thought would happen but I’m so grateful she was there for me.

3. The personal touches – from the personalized guest book to the handmade flower girl baskets and programs, we really wanted to add our own touch to the little things.

If you could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding, what would it be?

I would tell other couples just to relax and enjoy planning their wedding.  It is very important to remember that things probably will go wrong (we almost ended up with Easter egg blue vests for the tuxedos!) but at the end of the day you’re surrounded by friends, family and a whole lot of love.

Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

When we made our entrance as husband and wife, I don’t think I have ever smiled that big.  I knew how many invitations we had sent out and how many responses we had, but seeing everyone we cared about, all in one place, was very special to us.  Everyone was there to celebrate with us and was something we will never forget.

Romantic, Dreamy South Carolina Backyard Wedding

From the Photographer: “The wedding was held in the groom’s close friend’s backyard on James Island. Green grass, oak trees, and beautiful city views are just some of the features of this venue – plus, the couple was married on the evening with the largest full moon of the year. For me, the kiss at the ceremony was quite powerful. The officiant had to tell the groom several times “Not yet, Mike!” But once he got approval, Mike lifted Katie up while kissing her.”

All this week, we’ve been inspired by the Fourth of July holiday. We shared red, white, and blue wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses, as well as a super-patriotic real wedding. To kick off the weekend, we thought we’d share one more piece of red, white, and blue wedding inspiration in the form of this style shoot which took place on the shores of Lake Superior in Marquette, Michigan. We love the preppy, whimsical details – particularly the striped table runners, the “sign-in oar,” and the message in a bottle decor.
