We think it’s important to have at least one part of your invitations be unique and stand-out so we pulled some photos with ideas we think create a “wow” factor when your guests open up their mail box:
1. Shape
Go for something different! You can now do your invites in circles, squares, stars…whatever you want! These are also great because the front of them have a great presentation and make the receiver excited to open them!

2. Themed
It’s become easier to have all of your wedding materials match, between your wedding website, blog, save the dates, invitations – just like with the below invitation that mocks the look of your wedding blog. Give your guests something fun to read when the receive your invitation.

3. Script
Fonts can make your invites/save the dates stand out from anything else your guests have received in the mail. If you know how to do calligraphy then you should definitely address your envelopes in a gorgeous script like below. If you aren’t the creative type – you can also find fonts that mock handwriting.

4. Patterns
Whether your in to fashion or not, it’s hard to miss that patterns are back, and in full force. Accept your programs, envelope inserts, place cards, or even your invitations with a pattern that matches your overall color scheme. It doesn’t have to be bright and color like the one below, but typically that’s what makes it so amazing!

While standing in the check-out line today I picked up the most recent Martha Stewart Weddings magazine to flip through. The first page I flipped open to I saw the most amazing idea – lace doily envelope liners! I immediately purchased the magazine and raced home to read what Martha’s newest idea was!

These doily envelope liners make the perfect DIY project for your wedding! They look great with a neutral colored invitation, or I thing they would look equally beautiful with a bright colored paper peaking through. I found easy instructions from Martha Stewart Weddings to make these liners.
To make, lay a 9-inch square doily face down, with a corner pointing toward you. Center invitation on top. Fold up bottom point, then side points, and finally the top. Insert into envelope. You can buy doilies in different sizes based on the size of your invitation. I found a 9-inch square butterfly doily from Artifacts Inc. I also found some square paper doilies online here.
I would love to find somewhere that sold lace envelopes! If you know of any let us know!

As I was reading through BridalBuds last week, I came across this post by Plumeria Bud about invitations from Printable Press and I thought it was such a great idea! They have a ton of unique designs to match your event’s theme and style or they can customize an invitation that better suits your personality. And now for the best part, once Printable Press has designed the invitation set, you get the PDF so you can have them printed online or at a local print shop or even print them yourself at home!

Pleas note: Printable Press is not taking new orders until May 1st.
