And the Winners Are…

After weeks of voting, we’re finally ready to announce your pick for the hottest trends in wedding dresses and bridesmaid styles. So, without further ado, the envelope please. And the winners are…

…the illusion back wedding gown by Lela Rose (style name: Union Square) and the black lace bridesmaid dress by Noir by Lazaro (Style 3278)!

While we’re not sure that these styles would work well together at the same wedding – the Lela Rose feels a little more low-key but modern, the Lazaro a tad bit more formal (definitely a city ballroom wedding style) – we think the dresses do have a few things in common. Both are feminine and have just the right amount of sex appeal. And both feature pretty fantastic backs!

What do you think? Do you agree with the winners? Let us know in the comments! And we’ll see you next season for another dress poll!

Wedding Dress Trends: The Back View

Remembering that most of your guests will see your back throughout your wedding (at the altar, on the dance floor) you may want to choose a wedding gown with detail on the back of the dress.

In seasons past the back detail focused on the skirt and train, but this year designers focused on the entire back – from the nape of the neck to the edge of the skirt’s hem.

Back detailing included tulle embellished with beading or appliques, an all lace back of the bodice or bridal buttons streaming down in bright bridal white (or ivory).

So when you go to try on wedding dresses remember to look at yourself from both the front and back to see what view your guests will have.  Here are the back views of some of our favorite Spring 2012 gowns:

While floral appliques and embellishments are not new to market, the three dimensional designs we saw this season were.  From oversized blooms to small and scattered petals, designers must have been thinking of the nursery rhyme “Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary” and asked themselves, ‘how does your garden grow?’

Here’s a look at some of the floral-inspired designs for Spring 2012:

Wedding Dress Trends: Pink!

While white and ivory reign as the #1 choice of color for wedding gowns, the second runner-up is pink. Many designers showed at least one pink dress on the runway, mostly in a pale shade with names like blush and French almond.

And while only one designer featured an all sort-of bold shade of the feminine color, the majority of pink hues were shown as an underlay to a lace overlay or a pink skirt with a white bodice.

Here’s a selection of pink gowns from Spring 2012’s Bridal Market. In most cases the gown is also available in all white or ivory too.
