Mallary & Matt
St. Paul, Minnesota
Our Q&A with the Bride:
What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?
Downtown St. Paul in general is so charming and our selected venues (Cathedral of St. Paul and the St. Paul Hotel), in my opinion, are the two staple ‘landmarks’ of the city. I wanted my guests to have that same ‘take your breath away’ moment that Matt and I had when we first drove up to the church. It’s a dramatic, visual masterpiece and you literally get chills just being there.
The European inspired elegance of the St. Paul Hotel and the old-world charm of Rice Park seemed to be the perfect fit to our French vintage inspired decor theme and our taste, in general. Not to mention, the staff the most professional, friendly and accommodating group of people. They were so fun to work with and made our decision easy.
Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?
Does my cute husband count? If I have to choose decor elements then I would choose the insane floral design, both the ribbon-adorned altar arrangements at the ceremony and the French details, like the paper flowers made from Parisian love poems mixed with the floral arrangements at the reception. Also, the candelabras – my mom and friends hand-glazed and hand-strung every crystal onto each one. And I loved the vintage mirror with the guests’ table assignments. It was a mirror from my mom’s bedroom, and the guests’ names were done in die-cut details.
If you could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding, what would it be?
You can plan, plan, plan, but just let it go the day of! Remember at the end of the day, as long as you got married you had a successful wedding. Flowers will droop, shoes will break, spills will happen and your goofy cousin will get too drunk… but you got married (hopefully to the man/woman of your dreams) and that’s truly all that matters!
