Crisp air, changing foliage, pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks — the list of reasons why we love Fall is almost as long as the season itself. But, in the interest of saving time, we’ll get right down to our favorite part: the weddings. Certain details just work best between September and November, and these are the ones we love most.

1. Vibrant Backdrops - Classic black and white wedding ensembles look especially stunning against burning yellow and orange trees, don’t you think?

Country Chic Summer Farm Wedding in Michigan

Beal City, Michigan

Q & A with the Bride:

What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

We had our wedding at my parents’ home, which is a small farm. It is a beautiful property, with the perfect intimate location for a ceremony by a large spring-fed pond. We had considered a few other venues so my family could avoid the stress of having a large wedding at their house, but we knew it had to be at my parent’s house when, during a family meeting on the issue, the future groom stated: “When I proposed, I intended to marry Hilary at the pond.” How could you say no to that?!

Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

  1. The Queen Anne’s Lace, which grows wild, and looked lovely in many of our pictures. The bolo ties that the groom, groomsmen, and father of the bride sported for the wedding.
  2. The groom’s bolo tie was a family heirloom, and the rest of the bolo ties were handmade by the groom’s mother. So handsome!
  3. The bride’s father and brother had been arguing for weeks about lawn care and the optimal day to do a final mowing of the lawn before the wedding. We can’t remember who ended up winning the argument, but on the day of the wedding the lush, green lawn was striking!

Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

Our ceremony was so amazing and meaningful, and it contained the one moment of the wedding day I (the bride) cannot stop thinking about: Holding the groom’s hands while the officiant was discussing all the ways his hands would support me in our future life together, I noticed that my tough-as-nails groomsman brother was crying.
