Q & A with the Bride:

What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

I knew that I wanted my wedding ceremony to be outdoors in a beautiful historical, private setting and I wanted something different than the traditional ballroom.  The stone ruins of the old mill were so majestic, absolutely stunning.  It really was like stepping into a fairytale when I first visited the grounds and I knew without a doubt it was the perfect place for my romantic vintage-styled wedding.

Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

  1. One of my favorite details from my wedding was the canopy at the ceremony.  It was ornately decorated with several clusters of white, ivory, and soft pink flowers and draped with crystals and pearls from top to bottom, so beautiful.
  2. I loved the feather details of our wedding.  The bridesmaids and I had ostrich feather fans, the flower girl wore feather angel wings, and there were accent feathers in my veil, the centerpieces, my bouquet, and the boutonnieres.  The bridesmaids and I even wore feather boas into the reception. They were such an elegant and fun 1920s vintage detail.
  3. The miniature wooden bride and groom that were used as our cake topper.  They were custom made and painted to look just like Wilson’s tuxedo and my dress.  The bride even had a miniature veil to match mine.  They were so adorable!

Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

The most memorable moment for me was walking down the aisle with my parents and seeing Wilson for the first time.  The natural greenery of the ruins of the old mill, the open sky above, and the simple elegance of the ceremony space took my breath away.  It was such a surreal feeling that we were actually getting married after our nearly ten year courtship.  We started dating when I was 16 years old and he was almost 19 years old.  I just smiled and tried taking everything in as I walked down the aisle.  The whole design of the ceremony space and the music played by the harpist was so enchanting and dreamy.  It was such a beautiful moment and one of my favorite wedding memories.
