Lauren and Matthew were married at Butterfly Kisses Pavilion in Newport, N.C. on October 11.  “We were going for a rustic feel, and what better way then to get married in a barn,” Lauren said. The bride wore a strapless silk fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown with a ruched bodice and skirt, accessorized with her hair in an updo, birdcage veil, and a pair of jeweled bow platform pumps, while the groom wore a three-piece gray suit, accessorized with a tie and tennis shoes. Bridesmaids wore long one-shoulder teal chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of roses. Guests were greeted with a chalkboard sign that said, “Today, two families become one. Please pick a seat not a side.” The ceremony took place underneath the pavilion overlooking the river. Aisles were lined with baby’s breath in galvanized metal buckets, and altar was adorned with vintage books atop a wine barrel. Once the exchanging of vows were sealed with akiss, it was official, almost 100 witnessing. Cocktail hour began with signature sweet tea drinks in mason jars. Fun fact: it served double-duty as favors! The reception took place inside the barn hung with string lights. Tables were decorated with white linens, burlap runners, and wooden box centerpieces. “Our first dance — I was so nervous for two weeks before the wedding because I had knots in my stomach,” she said. “During it though, I just remember thinking, I’m not nervous anymore.” Dinner was served buffet style. In lieu of a traditional guest book, everyone wrote advice on hearts. A three-tiered fondant-frosted cake topped with a monogram was cut for dessert in addition to cupcakes. The newlyweds’ best advice? ” It’s your day,” Lauren said. “It’s hard not to please other people or just go with what they say because your stressed.” At the end of the night, they exited amongst a sea of sparklers and jetted off to their honeymoon in the Bahamas. “We had a sparkler send-off, and it worked out perfect,” she said. “Most of the guests stayed until the end, so we had a lot of sparklers, and it just started to rain right as we were walking out, which they say is good luck!”

Rustic Peacock-Themed Summer Ranch Wedding in Texas

Michelle and Matthew were married at Classic Oaks Ranch in Mansfield, Texas on June 28. “The overall feel of the venue was very rustic, but very classic at the same time,” Michelle said. The bride wore a strapless sweetheart ball gown, accessorized with her hair in a braided sideswept updo, feather dangling earrings, and a pair of cowboy boots, while the groom wore a three-piece gray suit, accessorized with a matching tie and pocket square. Bridesmaids wore short purple chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of calla lilies, seeded eucalyptus, thistle, and nigella. “Michelle is in school studying to become an equine veternarian, and they both are animal lovers so both of their dogs were out with them all day . . . she even intended to ride in to the ceremony on horseback, but at the last minute, the horse wouldn’t cooperate,” Lindsey Burns of Tyler + Lindsey said. “Instead, we just included her in their portraits.” The ceremony took place outside underneath the wooden pavilion with guests seated in benches. “I can’t stop thinking about when the barn doors opended and I saw Matthew waiting for me at the head of the aisle,” she said. Afterwards, the reception began in the barn. Horseshoes served as escort cards and prepared everyone for the BBQ. Yum! Tables were decorated with white linens, tall wheat centerpieces, galvanized metal tins, which served double-duty as favors, at each place setting, and surrouned with bows tied aroud cross-back chairs. “They are sweet, down-to-earth, and relaxed, and the wedding was such the perfect reflection of them,” Lindsey said. “The day had a beautiful collection of personal touches that truly added so much personality.” At the end of the night, they exited amongst a sea of sparlers and drove off in an antique black Ford Ranger truck for their honeymoon along the entire West Coast. The newlyweds’ best advice? “Start as early as possible and seriously consider a planner,” she said. “Even if you just have someone take over in the final weeks before the big day.”

Courtney and Adam were married at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston, S.C. on April 24. “I was going for a blend of ‘Gone with the Wind,’ William Faulkner, and ‘The Great Gatsby,’ Courtney said. “Magnolia Plantation was a blend of all worlds and incredibly beautiful with tons of open space for us to roam. Peacocks and other animals also attended our wedding, and we loved the ease of going from the ceremony to the reception. The moment I knew I had to go with it was when the events manager told us we could use sparklers on the front lawn.” The bride wore a strapless lace fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown, accessorized with her hair half-up/half-down in loose curls with a floor-length veil, while the groom wore a white button-up shirt and light gray pants, accessorized with leather suspenders and bow tie. Bridesmaids wore short pink chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of roses. “My favorite moment of the entire day was after we got married, and our guests went to the reception so that we could take portraits,” she said. “My groom and I had about an hour to ourselves with the photographer that was so intimate and romantic. We just let each other be in love and think about the coolness of the situation — we were officially official!” While the newlyweds were out and about the property, guests were encouraged to snap pictures on Instagram as long as they used the hashtag #vanossvows. Tables underneath the wrap-around porch were decorated with white linens, hurricane vase centerpieces, and quotes such as “Heaves to Betsy,” “Sweet as a Peach,” “Oh my Stars,” and “Bless your Heart.” Fun fact: “I made these signs with Southern sayings on them,” Courtney said. “The extra touches the caterer surprised me with were a s’mores bar and strawberry champagne soup.” Yum! The newlyweds’ best advice? “All the months of planning and showers and communication and drama means nothing if you can’t appreciate the entire day with the one you love,” she said. “I am such a planner and enjoyed the planning process, but I made a pact with myself on that day that I wasn’t going to fix anything, stress about anything, or way about anything. Just be.”

Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

The minute I saw the venue I fell in love. I never actually looked at other venues. I knew I wanted something on the water and a unique location. When I first walked in, the floor to ceiling windows of the rotunda had me hooked! The beautiful views of the river along with the sunset make for an incomparable backdrop for any event.

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

1. The s’mores bar was my most favorite thing. I mentioned it to Shaina at Omar’s Carriage House and left the rest up to her. She came up with the layout, design, and details all on her own. She did a fantastic job, and everyone had so much fun making them.

2. I’m OBSESSED with my cake. I didn’t want to cut it.

3. I chose to sit my bridal party and their dates at a big table “family style.” You don’t see this done at too many weddings and this was something that was important to me. I’ve been in weddings before where my date has to be sat all alone because I’m at the bridal table. I wanted everyone to be included and wanted to enjoy eating and sitting with all of our close friends and family.

3. Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about. 

I can’t stop thinking about the wedding ceremony itself. Having all of our family and friends there watching us finally get married. It was so meaningful to have someone that is a personal family friend be able to marry Austin and I. I think about our vows. We wrote them together, and I think about how heartfelt the moment was when we stated those vows to each other

Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

My parents met and were married in Charleston in the early 70’s.  We moved around a lot as a family for my Dad’s work, but Charleston has always been a priority vacation spot for my family.  I saw the William Aiken House years ago and always knew that’s where I would want to get married.  It has a beautiful, Southern charm about it that just screams “Charleston!”

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

First and foremost would be the DELICIOUS food.  Our guests are still raving about it. I really loved the décor in the house.  It was simple and perfect, and I felt it really showcased the beauty of the house itself. We loved how the outdoor area was set up with the tent and dance floor.  The hanging lanterns on the inside of the tent gave such an elegant touch and gorgeous ambiance for the whole evening.

3. Give us the one moment in your wedding that you can’t stop thinking about. 

My cousin and maid of honor had to undergo emergency open heart surgery a week before our wedding and was unable to attend because of this.  When I put my dress on the day of the wedding, there was a navy blue heart attached to the inside of my dress.  My mother then told me that my cousin asked the dress designer to attach this heart-shaped piece of my grandfather’s tie to the inside of my dress.  My grandfather passed away last November, and I was very close with him.  It was difficult planning our wedding knowing that he would not be there to watch me get married or to meet my husband.  It was such a sweet, special moment that really made me feel like he was with me that day!
