Courtney and Adam were married at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston, S.C. on April 24. “I was going for a blend of ‘Gone with the Wind,’ William Faulkner, and ‘The Great Gatsby,’ Courtney said. “Magnolia Plantation was a blend of all worlds and incredibly beautiful with tons of open space for us to roam. Peacocks and other animals also attended our wedding, and we loved the ease of going from the ceremony to the reception. The moment I knew I had to go with it was when the events manager told us we could use sparklers on the front lawn.” The bride wore a strapless lace fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown, accessorized with her hair half-up/half-down in loose curls with a floor-length veil, while the groom wore a white button-up shirt and light gray pants, accessorized with leather suspenders and bow tie. Bridesmaids wore short pink chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of roses. “My favorite moment of the entire day was after we got married, and our guests went to the reception so that we could take portraits,” she said. “My groom and I had about an hour to ourselves with the photographer that was so intimate and romantic. We just let each other be in love and think about the coolness of the situation — we were officially official!” While the newlyweds were out and about the property, guests were encouraged to snap pictures on Instagram as long as they used the hashtag #vanossvows. Tables underneath the wrap-around porch were decorated with white linens, hurricane vase centerpieces, and quotes such as “Heaves to Betsy,” “Sweet as a Peach,” “Oh my Stars,” and “Bless your Heart.” Fun fact: “I made these signs with Southern sayings on them,” Courtney said. “The extra touches the caterer surprised me with were a s’mores bar and strawberry champagne soup.” Yum! The newlyweds’ best advice? “All the months of planning and showers and communication and drama means nothing if you can’t appreciate the entire day with the one you love,” she said. “I am such a planner and enjoyed the planning process, but I made a pact with myself on that day that I wasn’t going to fix anything, stress about anything, or way about anything. Just be.”
Jordan and Will were married at the Beaufort Inn in Beaufort, S.C. on October 12. The bride wore a cap-sleeved satin a-line wedding gown with an illusion neckline, accessorized with a pair of sparkly peep-toe pumps, while the groom wore a black suit, accessorized with a bow tie. Bridesmaids wore long periwinkle one-shoulder chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of garden roses, hydrangeas, and dusty millers. Notice each one was gifted a pair of Kate Spade “putting on the ritz” studs? Guests were greeted at the ceremony with scenic views of Broomfield Creek just as the sun was setting. Bonus: There was also a performance from the First African Baptist Church choir! It was official soon after the vows were read and repeated one after another. The reception began with of course, tons of congratulations at the historic bed and breakfast. A chalkbaord sign displayed the quote, “Here’s to love, laughter, and happily ever after as Jordan and Will start their new life. Let’s all toast to the new husband and wife!” Tables were decorated with neutral linens, glass hurricane centerpieces filled to the brim with greenery, mercury glass votive candles, and surrounded by cross-back chairs. Not to mention the entire frame tent was draped with fabric and lit with crystal chandeliers. And the mirror panel bar for cocktails! Dinner included traditional Southern fare such as shrimp and grits, mini angus hamburgers, pineapple glazed chicken sliders, and slow roasted prime rib with butter lettuce salad. In case someone needed to take a break from dancing, there was also a comfy lounge with a sofa and two love seats. Dessert was a plenty — pecan tarts and chocolate cupcakes. That was in addition to cake! At the end of the night, the newlyweds exited amongst a sea of sparklers and were off to their honeymoon.
Courtney and Charles were married at The Island House in Charleston, S.C. on October 14. “The peaceful beautyof the location made us know that it was the perfect place for us to get married,” Courtney said. “The entire grounds were made available only to our wedding party and guests, so our event was private and intimate. The surroundings were stunning with the colorful flower fields, tall trees, white house with stately columns, and the picturesque view of the water. We could not have found a place that encompassed everything we were looking for.” The bride wore a strapless lace fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown, accessorized with a fingertip-length veil, while the groom wore a black suit, accessorized with a bow tie. Bridesmaids wore long gold satin dreses and carried bouquets of hydrangea, stock, and seeded eucalyptus. “I was obsessed with the boxes that lined our aisles during the ceremony,” she said. “They were transportated to our tables during the reception too. They brought an overgrown fairytale garden feeeling that we were hoping for.” Fun fact: Once the couple was announced husband and wife, the song “This Magic Moment” by Lou Reed was played. “It made the moment even more exciting,” Courtney said. Dinner was vegetarian and gluten-free! “It was important to me that our guests enjoyed the food, but I could still eat,” she said. Guests also enjoyed playing lawn games such as giant Jenga. “Our first dance was absolutely my favorite,” Courtney said. “Everything leading up to it was special leading up, but in those few minutes, it was just my husband and I holding each other and talking as if no one else was around.” The newlyweds’ best advice? “I took on a lot of the planning and preparation leading up to the weding and gave myself an awful lot of responsibility during our weekend as well,” she said. “I absolutely loved the whole process, and it was so important to me that all of our guests had a great experience after traveling so far. In the end, I tried to take too much onto my plate, and I had to come to the realization that my family and friends wanted a chance to help and be involved. It made them feel good to know that they had contributed something. My advice is to accept help! It makes the experience more full when the people that love you are there by your side.” In lieu of a traditional sparkler send off, they rode off on a red moped.
Janice and Adam were married at Callawassie Island Club in Callawassie Island, S.C. on October 12. “Our venue went above and beyond to make our day special,” Janice said. “They had never hosted a tented wedding on the lawn next to the big oak tree before, but they were willing to try anything we presented them with. We knew that between the venue’s willingness and gorgeous Southern setting, we had found the perfect place.” The bride wore a strapless lace fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown, accessorized with a jeweled sash and pair of peep-toe strappy platform pumps, while the groom wore a custom-made dark gray suit, accessorized with a solid sage green tie. Bridesmaids wore long champagne chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of garden roses, freesias, dahlias, lamb’s ears, and silver brunia balls. “The one moment that has been on my mind is the first look between Adam and I,” she said. “We had this moment out on the dock. Our bridal party joined us shortly after, but it was really nice to have it to ourselves.” Following the riverside ceremony at sunset, cocktail hour and reception began. Guests enjoyed lounging around on couches, sipping on refreshing bottles of water to beat the heat, and smoking personalized cigars. Tables were decorated with tall floral centerpieces, mercury glass candelabras with pillar candles, and wooden freestanding numbers.”The food was amazing,” Janice said. “The chef knew we didn’t want a ‘typical’ menu, so he created something that was more unique. It was all delicious. Plus, the music really set the tone, and the band kept everyone on the dance floor the entire night.” The newlyweds’ best advice? “Work with a team of professionals that you trust and feel comfortable with,” she said. “These are the people that will make your day go flawlessly. I was at ease the morning of the wedding knowing everything would be taken care of. Never once did we have to worry that something would go wrong.”
Catharine and Aaron were married at Anne Springs Close Greenway in Fort Mill, S.C. on June 22. The bride wore a v-neck lace wedding gown with capped sleeves, accessorized with her hair in a sideswept curly updo, while the groom wore a tan suit, accessorized with an orange tie. Bridesmaids donned navy blue dresses with illusion necklines and carried bouquets of roses, hydrangeas, and irises. Guests were greeted with a wooden sign that served as the itinerary for the evening. First up, the ceremony followed by dinner, games, music, and dancing. The newlyweds’ best advice? “To remember that it’s about family and friends getting together and not fretting about the little things,” Catharine said. “No one will care about the multiple courses of food or favors. They will remember how happy you both were, and they got to share that special moment with you.” Inside the barn, tables were decorated with lace runners, mason jar centerpieces, glitter chalkboard numbers, and thank-you notes at each place setting. Believe it or not, the red velvet cake was homemade too. Yum!
