Q & A with the Bride:
1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?
It was the property where I grew up. I knew that I wanted a rustic, beautiful setting outside that was personal, so our ceremony took place in my mother’s rose garden in the backyard.

While walking down the aisle, listening to my stepfather play the song “Blackbird” on his classical guitar, I can’t forget seeing my husband for the first time that day.

Micaela + Kai
Running Rabbit Ranch & Vineyard, Santa Rosa, CA.
The Love Story: It was young love when Micaela and Kai met on the first day of high school in Santa Rosa. “We dated for a few months in the ninth grade then found each other again right before graduation,” the bride recalls. “After nine years of travel, living abroad and schooling, we finally got engaged in Costa Rica.” When it came time to plan their wedding in Sonoma, they set out to find a unique location that would make for a relaxed, simple and modern event. “The second we stepped foot on the grounds at Running Rabbit Ranch & Vineyard we looked at each other with tears in our eyes,” she says. “It was perfect. Running Rabbit incorporated everything we had wanted for our wedding day: a ceremony on a hilltop overlooking Sonoma County, a cocktail hour outdoors surrounded by roses, a dinner among the vineyards and a big white barn for dancing. The couple fell head over heels in love with the quaint little town of Sonoma, California. The Groom took the bride there for her birthday during their first year of dating. At midnight, on her birthday, he took her to the park in the center of town. One year later, when Edgar proposed, they knew exactly where the wedding would take place – the center of town.
They decided on an eclectic garden theme, something that gave them the “backyard” feel they wanted… yet very elegant. Casa Sonoma, a rental property in Sonoma, provided this exact look for their reception.
To get the eclectic look they wanted, the couple spent, what seemed like countless hours, searching antique, thrift and flower shops until the perfect bottles, vases and flower pots were found. Nazli, a bridesmaid and owner of Stems, graciously agreed to do all of the floral arrangements – this is where the garden theme really came to life.
Two days before the big day, the bride and her mom decided to take on the task of refinishing the cake table. It was purchased at a local thrift shop about two miles from the reception location It was transformed from a light wood finish to a radiant cool blue. The table was set next to a cherry plum tree – the contrast was striking. Meagan, a friend of the groom, did an amazing job creating two cheesecakes, strawberry and mint chocolate chip, along with a Lemon Poppy Seed cake. Her artistic display was topped off with yellow roses.
