Q & A with the Bride:
1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?
Chota Falls is so unique and picturesque. I loved that we had the venue to ourselves, and the waterfall setting really sold my family and I. It was actually the only venue I toured.
2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?
2. Pictures taken by the waterfall
3. If you could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding, what would it be?
I would tell couples that they don’t need a yearlong (or longer) engagement to have the wedding of their dreams. Thanks to my mom, who is a wedding coordinator herself, we were able to plan our wedding in slightly less than six months. I loved having that amount of time because it was short enough that we didn’t second-guess our decisions and long enough that our guests had sufficient time to make travel arrangements.
4. Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.
Having all of my closest friends and family in the same room was my favorite part of the day. I loved introducing people from all walks of my life to my husband’s friends and family, and it was wonderful to see family and friends that I hadn’t seen in years. I’ll also never forget the moment that they pronounced us husband and wife. Everything was perfect, and I wish I could relive my wedding day every day.

Q & A with the Bride:
What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?
After seeing one of my all-time favorite movies, Father of the Bride, I had always dreamed of having a tented backyard wedding. Unfortunately, my parents sold their house so we needed to find a Plan B. When we saw the upper garden behind the historic mansion for the first time, we knew it was the perfect setting. While we were in college, C.J. studied abroad in Florence, Italy and when I visited, he took me to see theBoboliGardens. As we overlooked the gardens at the Evergreen Museum & Library together, we felt nostalgic for the time we spent together in Italy. The grandeur of the mansion backdrop and the beauty of the gardens were the perfect combination for a summer outdoor wedding.
What three (3) details from your wedding were your favorites?
Not only did we want our wedding to define our style, but we wanted to help our guests feel welcome. Many of our guests traveled from Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Miami, so we were excited to design a really unique cigar lounge, which ended up being a huge hit! We had so much fun selecting the lounge furniture from Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, my father’s favorite brand of Dominican Cigars and custom monogrammed throw pillows from Etsy. The guests enjoyed the cigar lounge as a break from the high-energy dance floor.
Another favorite design element was the chic décor and flower arrangements by Victoria Clausen, especially the wall of mirrors and the 3-D floral arrangements above the escort card tables. The crystal chandeliers suspended above, gave the tent a magical feel. Victoria and I had a great time picking out the gorgeous table linens together from Table Toppers and I was able to help her describe my vision through many inspirational photos on Pinterest.
Lastly, a detail that was a “must have” at our wedding was our signature cocktail – “The Orange Crush”. We love spending our summer weekends at the Delaware Beaches and both enjoy the refreshing drink that is served at our favorite bar, The Rusty Rudder. Our caterer, Tali from Linwoods was not familiar with the popular cocktail, but was enthusiastic to serve it and even purchased the orange crushers to make them as authentic as possible! The fun Orange Crush was the perfect accompaniment to our summer wedding.
If you could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding, what would it be?
One of my vendors gave us excellent advice a few days before our wedding. She said, “please take time to step back and notice being surrounded by everyone that loves you and C.J., a few moments to notice the small things and not always be in the action, time to observe.” Although the day flew by before my eyes, I have a few wonderful moments that I can always think about when looking back on my wedding day. Leave the bulk of the work to great vendors, and you’ll be able to enjoy your special day.
Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.
There are so many incredible memories, but one in particular that was truly special for me was when I started to hear a familiar voice singing a beautiful solo during the ceremony and turned around to notice my brother standing behind me. It was such a huge surprise and it meant so much that he planned everything ahead of time with the music director at the church.

Virginia Beach, Virginia
Tara and Sean’s wedding was a perfect mix of classic, shabby chic, and vintage details. Their venue made it feel like an elegant, intimate back yard celebration. We love their couple shots – because as you know, I always melt when you can feel the love between the couple in their photos. A fabulous job by David Schwartz Photography, and thank you for letting us share this beautiful day!

I have to apologize for how long this post is, but this is just one of those weddings where I couldn’t leave out any of the details. Each centerpiece is unique, every couple shot is breathtaking, the florals are out of this world, and the tiny details, which are too many to name, are beyond gorgeous! Some of them I have to mention like, the local organic produce area on the buffet, the shabby chic sitting area, and the adorable favors which were marked, “Your Presence was Key”…
