Q & A with the Couple:

What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

The natural setting. The park sits on the other side of the Oak Leaf bike trail. To get into the park, you have to walk through a tunnel—it’s like to shed the city and step into a wonderful natural setting. Also, the ceremony space sits right on the bank of the Milwaukee River with woods on the other side. It was just the perfect setting that we wanted.

Which details from your wedding were your favorites?

  1. The “make your own s’mores” bar—this was put together by our caterer, Potawatomi Bingo Casino. It was a HUGE hit with our guests.
  2. Our wedding party transportation, Cream City Rickshaw. Such an awesome way to tour the city of Milwaukee! The drivers were very nice and friendly, so was the owner in planning the route and payments! The wedding party loved it because they were carted around and got a lot of compliments from passers-by when we were  riding through the Third Ward. For Andrew and I, we loved the time to be able to spend together and just talk about what had happened, what was about to happen and how happy we were.
  3. Our DJ. A friend of ours was our DJ, and we told him “no traditional wedding music.” We wanted to have a nightclub feel with the music to keep the party going until the very end. Needless to say, the dance floor was packed the entire night, and the reception venue turned on the lights at the end of the night and said, “that’s it! You guys need to leave.”

Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

Dancing down the center aisle to “Chasing the Sun” by The Wanted, holding hands, smiling ear to ear and knowing that we had just pledged ourselves to each other for the rest of our life. (And we are so thrilled that Brittany captured that moment in the photo!).

Kimberly & Tonya

August 6

Naples, Florida

~~~~~~~~
From the Event Planner:
“The couple chose to exchange vows on the lawn of Fleischmann Park overlooking the Gulf in Downtown Naples FL.  The day could not have been more beautiful and everyone got a giggle when the flower girl tossed her basket down the aisle. A reception followed at the Naples Bay Resort where the guests dined on small plates, each representing a different borough of New York City.  Kim and Tonya knew they wanted a NYC-themed wedding to celebrate the city where they fell in love – we focused on Central Park as the inspiration for the decor. The room was filled with large plants and the centerpieces featured large trees with hanging candles and orchids. The couple surprised the guests by changing into tuxes and serving a late night snack of candied nuts and warm pretzels just as you would have on the streets of NYC.” -Kehrin Hassan, Jet Set Wed
Q & A with the Couple:
What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?
We immediately loved the view, of course, and how intimate it was. We had the ceremony in the same location, so the indoor and outdoor space was great too. It was perfect for a cocktail party of Champagne and hors d’oeuvres.
Which details from your wedding were your favorites?
We were really excited about our photographer and loved all the photos, she was amazing and we could not have done better.
My sister made a wishing tree for us and we still keep everyone’s wishes for us in a jar on a shelf. A lovely reminder of all the love and support we have in our lives.
Our wedding cake was made by Christine’s mom (Golden Goose Catering) and it was gorgeous and we loved the ceramic birds on tops.
I loved my hair and I am so glad I chose to wear my hair up for the event.
Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.
Our officiant handed out blessings for some of our guests to read during the ceremony and that really was beautiful to have our guests be a part of the ceremony too.  Our ceremony was personal and the officiant really took her time to tell our story and include our guests. We were so glad it was personal; it kept the ceremony intimate.
Fabulous, Elegantly Modern Wedding in Maine
Posted by Jeffra on Mar 02, 2012
Rick & Jon
October 1
Kennebunkport, Maine
Design:
The design goal was to create a masculine, tailored and elegant dinner party.  We achieved this by building a glass-walled tent with dark hardwood floors and selecting a blend of mirrored and draped tables.  The bar and chandelier were selected to anchor the room while the white flowers and candles softened the space.  Chef Cartwright prepared an outstanding five-course tasting menu with wine pairings.
Who are We:
Rick and Jon were introduced by a common friend while traveling on a business trip.  It didn’t take too long before they realized they had met their best friend and partner.  They live in Boston and have a summer home in Kennebunk.  After looking for a venue in Boston, they soon realized that nothing fit the style of the event they wanted to have and decided to plan a wedding in Kennebunkport where they could create a memorable party.  The couple was married in Massachusetts in a private ceremony at the Copley Plaza Hotel on 9/28 with a celebration of their marriage in Kennebunkport on 10/1.
