Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

HollyHedge Estate was the first and only wedding venue we visited. New Hope, Pa. is one of our favorite areas, so we were instantly intrigued. The second we arrived at HollyHedge, we knew.  It was the most beautiful, ethereal, rustic, fairytale place we had ever seen; too perfect.

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

1. Flowers – Mark Bryan and his team of experts did the most amazing job of translating what we asked for into the most amazingly beautiful floral arrangements!  They could not have been more perfect.

2. Table cards – Erin actually handmade our table cards himself.  They could not have been more darling and personal.  Just the right touch.  Our amazing wedding photographer, Rachel Pearlman took some amazing detail shots of the cards.

3. Toasts – Our families made such beautiful toasts to us during the reception.  In particular my mother, brothers and our bridal party.  So touching and sweet!

3. Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

The first look.  I was led out to the fountain area in the front courtyard of HollyHedge Estate.  Erin was standing there with a pink ribbon tied as a blindfold across his eyes.  I was so excited and nervous at the same time as I walked towards him.  When I reached Erin, I took his hand in mine, and we told each other how much we loved one another.  He told me how he could not wait to spend the rest of his life with me, and I told him how lucky I felt to have such an amazing person in my life.  We turned to face each other, and I began to untie the ribbon.  As it fell away, I could see it in his eyes that were truly meant to be together.  We both felt so connected in that moment.  It was so special; like a real spark between two people.

Bohemian Floral Spring Style Shoot in Indiana

Posted by Caitlin on Jun 07, 2013

For the boho-chic bride, we’re ending this week with an inspiring romantic style shoot for you! It’s no secret that we love floral crowns filled with big, billowing blooms as a veil alternative. They’re such statement pieces worth wearing. (Believe it or not, this trend is not just for flower girls anymore!) Match your floral crown with a delicate lace wedding gown or side fishtail braid hairstyle. See more of the delicious details below, including cake and macaroons:

Q & A with the Bride:

Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

All of the bouquets (plus table centerpieces) were fresh-cut tulips from Pike Place Market in Seattle. The tulips were in season and were a special order from a local farm.  The table numbers at the reception were also a favorite detail. The numbers pasted on a printed silver and yellow paper, then framed, were a last-minute project the night before the wedding. And to match the gray, white and yellow theme, the bridesmaids gifts were gray crocheted Toms shoes. They came in handy for the bridesmaids who wore them as “dancing shoes” throughout the reception.

If you could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding, what would it be?

Everything will work out! It can be stressful and seem nearly impossible to keep track of all of the details (big and small), but even if something is overlooked, you will likely be the only one who cares. We forgot to purchase cake plates and silverware and did not realize until right before we cut the cake. Ian announced to our guests that they would all have to eat cake with their hands, and it became a funny moment from our wedding (luckily our wonderful venue had backup plates and utensils stashed away that we were able to use). Relax and try to be “in the moment” throughout your big day. Moments are what you will remember, not the details.

Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

Our favorite moment from our wedding is when we said our vows. It was a beautiful ceremony and reception, but the vows were the reason we were there- to commit ourselves to each other and start a life together. Out of all of the special moments from that day, that is one we cherish the most.

Romantic Courtyard Wedding in New Orleans

Q & A with the Bride:

What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

We really wanted to get married outside and have an outdoor reception.  The Elms Mansion gave us both, as well as an elegant atmosphere.  Everything about the venue is picturesque, starting with its location on the oak lined St. Charles Avenue.

Which details from your wedding were your favorites?

  • One of our best friends married us.  He got ordained online and conducted a very personal and memorable ceremony.  He had everyone crying.
  • My dad and stepdad walked me down the aisle together.  They both mean a lot to me, so I felt privileged to be given away by them both.
  • The band, TABOO [now The Phunky Monkeys]. Everyone danced all night.  The band played everything from classic rock to rap, got out into the crowd, and got to know a few of our livelier guests!
  • Our first dance was to a Joe Cocker song, which was the concert we went to on our first “date” (along with our best friend that married us)!

If you could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding, what would it be?

Stay true to your vision for the event.  We wanted a small, intimate ceremony and reception with only close friends and family.  We had around 160 guests and knew every face.  We truly enjoyed ourselves visiting and catching up with our loved ones.  We spent the night doing exactly what we wanted….dancing and laughing!

Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

At the end of the night, the band led a New Orleans second line around the courtyard and over to our getaway car.  Most of the guests were still there singing and dancing in the second line and waiving their handkerchiefs in the air.

“Fete Des Fleurs” Styled Shoot

Posted by Kim on May 16, 2013

Today’s Florida-based styled shoot was inspired by a pink-and-green swatch of striped fabric, which was used throughout the décor. The theme? “Fete Des Fleurs,” which means “Feast of Flowers” in French. Says the photographer, “The reasoning behind the feast of flowers was to create an atmosphere of feasting in a French garden, with a combination of florals, succulents, vegetables, and fruits as the main courses.” We’re obsessed with the lush and gorgeous floral arrangements, the regal gold and pink paper suite, and the incredible striped Hayley Paige gown that so perfectly matches the theme!
