Katie and Michael were married at Lake Mohawk Country Club in Sparta, N.J. on October 12. “We knew we wanted our wedding to be close to the water,” Katie said. “We fell in love with the boardwalk overlooking the [lake], in addition to the reception room with the high ceiling and exposed beams. It was just picturesque.” She looked beautiful in her sweetheart lace wedding gown, accessorized with a wildflower bouquet. Did you check out her updo? It has a braid! The groom wore a pinstripe gray suit, accessorized with a patterned tie. After writing and saying their own vows, the two were officially pronounced husband and wife. Guests were escorted to their seats with handmade coasters. Tables were decorated with burlap squares, wine table numbers featuring childhood pictures, and guest libs. The bride’s favorite moment? “Dancing all night with our friends and family to our awesome live band!”

Kelly and Andrew were married during a cold, winter day in Swansboro, N.C. on January 5. To keep warm, the bride accessorized with a fur stole on top of her fit ‘n’ flare ruffled wedding gown. Bridesmaids wore purple dresses whereas groomsmen wore gray suits with polka dot bow ties. Bouquets featured an array of blooms such as garden roses, hydrangeas, and calla lilies. Following the traditional church ceremony, the reception was held at the town’s civic center, which was decorated with lace, lanterns, and wine bottles. “When we walked into the room, we were completely blown away,” Kelly said. “The room looked magical! Even though we had picked out the details, we were still shocked when we saw how beautifully it came together.” Even the ceiling was draped with fabric and chandelier! Their favorite moment? The father of the bride’s speech. “We still laugh at the things he said,” she said. Instead of a sparkler send off, guests held handwritten signs that said, “Faith,” “Bliss,” “Fun,” “Love,” and “Hope.” A cute do-it-yourself touch.

Angela and Carlino were married at The Lodge at Sonoma on September 28. “The outdoor lawn has an amazing rock wall around it that we knew would make a great background for the wedding ceremony,” Angela said. “And the stone building, where we had the reception, had incredible exposed ceiling beams hung with lanterns.” Besides the bride’s Maggie Sottero lace wedding gown with an illusion neckline, two of her favorite details were the flowers and entertainment! Bouquets were filled with orange and purple roses, dahlias, and orchids, and many guests raved about the mixture of music that was played. “We loved the entire day,” she said. “Having all of our family and friends there, the toasts, the food, and the music. It was a living dream. I want to go back and do it again!”

Contemporary Purple Fall Loft Wedding in Canada

From the photographer: “When I first met Nicole and John a few months before their wedding, I knew right away that we were the perfect match for each other. Their vision of an elegant and classy wedding, without any pomp and circumstance came together perfectly at 99 Sudbury, their venue of choice for the reception. Their day started off with Nicole getting ready at the Royal York hotel in downtown Toronto, followed by a Catholic ceremony at a Croatian church, and a great party at 99 Sudbury. A Croatian band, and a band from Nova Scotia played live music until well past midnight. Enjoy the photographs!” — Andreas of Photography by Andreas

Emma & Michael

Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

Michael and I met at Western Carolina University and lived in Asheville for a few years before moving to Greenville, S.C. Having our wedding outdoors in the mountains was extremely important to us. Hidden River offered the ceremony and reception site all in one property on a semi-functioning farm surrounded by mountains. The natural beauty of Hidden River stole our hearts from the first visit; it was the only venue we visited.

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

1. I loved and slaved over making all of the fabric bouquets. I am an interior designer; I used old fabric memos for the flower rosettes. Making those was a labor of love knowing all of my bridesmaids can keep their bouquet as a memento after the wedding.

2. I loved the antique books placed on the tables as small centerpieces. Michael and I got engaged in the library at Western (it is a long story that drove this underlying theme to our invitations, save-the-dates and use of antique books as centerpieces). He chose the library to propose because four years earlier I had spotted him in the library a week before we official met and started dating.

3. The corn hole boards were a surprise collaborative gift from one of my bridesmaids and one of Michael’s groomsmen. Chris my bridesmaid built them, Jimmy and his wife Kristen painted them one gold and purple for Western Carolina and purple and orange for Clemson University (Michael is a huge fan of Clemson football). This was a very sweet and personal gift that added additional entertainment to guests at the reception.

3. Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

The moment I crossed the bridge to the ceremony site I felt like I was floating and needed to be caught by Michael when I reached the altar. It was such an overwhelming moment that I struggled to compose myself. It was a wonderful feeling to be so in the moment with love and happiness.
