Q & A with the couple:
What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?
Even before we were engaged we said we would get married at The Grandview because of the amazing views. It is located directly on the Hudson River with the Mid-Hudson Bridge in the background. Multi-colored LED lights hang from the bridge’s superstructure which makes for a perfect backdrop in the evening sky. We had our reception in their Outdoor Ballroom which offered the feeling of an outdoor wedding, and allowed us to take full advantage of the stunning views and perfect June weather.
Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?
1. I loved my Lazaro wedding dress. The trumpet style fit me perfectly and the beaded bodice and platinum sash with handmade flowers made for the perfect amount of detail. If I could wear my wedding dress every day, I would.
2. Flowers/Decor/Color Scheme. Everything matched from our centerpieces to the groomsmen’s socks all the way down to the custom invitations and stamps.
3. Personal touches. Rather than the traditional bouquet toss we decided to present bouquets to my grandmothers. Also, on my bouquet we attached my grandfathers’ army tags, in their memory.
Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.
Megan would say, looking great in her dress. I (Tyler) would say dancing with my wife for the first time; it was a beautiful thing even though I repeatedly stepped on her cathedral length veil!
Tyler would say, dancing with his mom. I (Megan) would say when they revealed the decorated outdoor ballroom to Tyler and me for the first time before all the guests were seated. Everything was exactly how we had planned it, from the centerpieces down to the wine bottle favors placed on the tables exactly how we had instructed. Having those few moments of calm, just the two of us, taking in all of our hard work was amazing.

From the Photographer: “Jason and Maggie’s wedding was a wedding that had me excited from the moment they booked. From the invitations to centerpieces and flowers to menu, every detail reflected the rustic classic wedding they had planned for and dreamed of. Tucked away in the rolling hills of Union Kentucky, Meadowview Farm was host to Jason and Maggie’s elegant Southern reception. Maggie worked closely with the staff at Meadowview Farm and her florist (Inspired Floral Design) planning the menu, designing centerpieces, and adding personal touches to reflect the couples personalities. The grand tent and exquisite food made for an evening guests are sure to remember. The party started early and went well into the night. I was able to sneak Jason and Maggie away for a few last minute sunset shots. An upscale southern wedding was what the couple dreamed of…and they made it happen!” – Corrie Schaffeld of 1326 Studios

Q & A with the Bride:
What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?
Growing up in Oakland the Zoo has always held a special place in recalling childhood memories. The Snow Building has amazing views of the Bay Area. Since we are currently living in Washington DC I wanted to highlight and represent my hometown as much as possible because it reflects so strongly the person I am and the Snow Building reflected this.
Give us the one moment from your wedding that you can’t stop thinking about.
My husband would say the ice cream or not going back for a second plate of tacos. But what I think what it comes down to is our love that were able to demonstrate to our friends and family through the personal touches throughout the day. Even nearly 6 months later people still comment to us how well the day represented us.
If you could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding, what would it be?
We began the process by having an honest discussion of the details that were most important given budget, timeline, and feasibility. And having that as a framework we were able to refer back if we became sidetracked along the way. My husband and I had weekly check in sessions to see what was on the schedule for this week and discussing how everything was progressing. This allowed us to have a specific time for wedding related items rather than a lot of stressed out communication. It helped us keep focused on the big picture and in the end we would be married. And that is the most important detail to remember.

Q & A with the Bride:
What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?
The outdoor space. It had a waterfall, creek and lots of greenery.
Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?
- The pies and tiramisu instead of cake
- The outdoor venue
- The slideshow the maid of honor made which was watched during dinner
If you could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding, what would it be?
Don’t do things just because that is “what you are supposed to do.” If you want to do something a little non-traditional, then do it!
Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.
The dancing during the reception. Our family and friends live all over the country so it was very special to be able to celebrate and enjoy the night with all of them together.

Q & A with the Bride and Groom:
If you could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding, what would it be?
Do not try and do everything yourself, enlist the help of others. I say this because without the help of my mother and stepfather who literally planned everything (with the exception of my matron of honor, Damaris and one of my maids of honor, Tara, who were also integral in planning and execution) I don’t know how this day would have been possible. From the moment I screamed “Mom! I’m engaged!” she literally started planning the wedding. If I didn’t know any better I would’ve thought she was waiting for that moment from the day I was born.
Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.
During the party, one of my favorite songs came on (“I Am Blessed” by Mr. Vegas) and when I heard the entire crowd signing my favorite line in the song which is “I am blessed, I am blessed, Every day of my life I am blessed, When I wake up in the morning, And I lay my head to rest, Every day of my life I am blessed,” in that moment I literally had to stop and take it all in because no truer words could have been spoken about my wedding day and my life to date.
