Sarah and Corey were married at The Humphreys Estate in Temecula, Calif. on June 21. The bride wore a strapless straight across-neckline ball gown with a lace bodice and ruffled skirt, accessorized with her hair down in loose curls, floor-length veil, satin sash, and a pair of flats, while the groom wore a black tuxedo, accessorized with a bow tie. Bridesmaids wore long neutral chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of roses and hydrangeas. Guests were greeted with plenty of chalkboard signs that said, “So this is the miracle that we’ve been dreaming of. So this is love,” “Once in a while, in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale,” and “As two families become one, choose a seat not a side.” Before the ceremony, the couple opted for a first look. Fun fact: Corey was blindfolded! It took place in the garden in front of a raised gazebo. A tent was placed overhead for shade. To symbolize their unity, they even chose to combine sand. Once the license was signed, sealed, and delivered to the officiant, it was bona fide. Cocktail hour began around the pool followed by the reception. Tables were decorated with pink rosette linens, mercury glass votives and vases, gold charger plates, and picture numbers from throughout their entire relationship. In lieu of a traditional guest book, everyone was asked to share a message next to a typewriter. The first one was from the newlyweds, “It means the world to us that you are here today. Please sign our guestbook so we can treasure the memories we made here!” After dinner, the three-tiered square cake was cut and candy bar opened for grabs. It featured yogurt-covered pretzels, licorice, sour patch kids, gummy bears, lollipops, and more. At the end of the night, they exited amongst a sea of sparklers and were off to their honeymoon.

Emily and Bobby were married at the Chicago History Museum in Chicago, Ill. on June 6. “We lived in the neighborhood of the Chicago History Museum in Old Town, and I would walk past it often when walking our dog,” Emily said. “We always loved the feel of it, and it is beautiful inside and out. When our originial venue canceled on us about eight months before our wedding, we were devastated and very worried to say the least. Chicago History Museum ended up being everything and more not to mention it is a museum honoring the city where we fell in love. We loved it from the beginning, before we were even engaged, so I guess it was meant to be for us.” The bride wore a strapless lace fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown, accessorized wit her hair half-up/half-down in loose curls, fingertip-length veil, jeweled sash, and a pair of Kate Spade peep-toe bow pumps, while the groom wore a black suit, accessorized with a bow tie. Bridesmaids wore short navy blue chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of peonies, hydrangeas, and berries. “I especially enjoyed taking pictures before the ceremony with our wedding party,” she said. “The weather was perfect, and our photographer, Eric, handled everything so well. It really captured how relaxed and happy we felt on that day.” The ceremony took place outside in the plaza with scenic views of Lincoln Park. Guests were greeted with a chalkboard that described the itinerary. Aisles were lined with lanterns lit with candles. “It was a gorgeous 70 degree day with not a cloud in the sky,” Emily said. Following the “I do’s,” sealed with a kiss, the reception took place inside the ballroom. Tables were decorated with navy blue linens, silver napkins, burlap runners, tall curly willow centerpieces in mason jars, and patterned numbers. “The handmade and heartfelt details – we put so much time and effort into the day, and we wanted it to really show who we are and where we come from,” Emily said. “Our guests appreciated our extra touches.” The surprise entertainment during dinner was a slideshow put together by her stepdad! The newlyweds’ best advice? “If I could offer one piece of advice for other couples during planning, I would say to make one day a week a wedding-free day,” she said. “Go to dinner, enjoy each other, and put the wedding out of your minds for a moment. It’s hard to do, but it’s important to not let it take over and to remember why you are doing it all in the first place. I would also say to expect that something along the way will not go as you thought or planned, so prepare for that. Then, let it go and be thankful for all that goes right.” After it was all said and done, they traveled to St. Thomas for their honeymoon!

Sweet Shabby Chic Summer Garden Wedding in Arizona

Jennifer and Ryan were married at L’Auberge de Sedona in Sedona, Ariz. on August 31. “We wanted a beautiful outdoor setting and that’s exactly what L’Auberge de sedona gave us,” Jennifer said. “The entire resort has stunning views. Our wedding was creekside . . . Nature was all around us.” The bride wore a strapless sweetheart ball gown with a tiered, ruffled skirt, accessorized with a pearl statement necklace, ivory sash and Swarvoski studded flats, while the groom wore a three-piece light gray suit, accessorized with a bow tie. Bridesmaids wore long gray chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of roses, hydrangeas, and dusty millers. “I loved the entire day, but I really cherished the time we all got to spend before the wedding laughing together and taking pictures with all of our friends,” she said. “We had so much fun, especially my bridesmaids and I.” Before the ceremony, the couple opted for a first look. Guests were greeted with a fruit-infused water station to beat the heat. Thankfully, there were plenty of trees for shade for the reception too! Tables were decorated with white linens, birch bark centerpieces, antique silver numbers, and engagement session pictures. In addition to cake, there was also a candy buffet. “I enjoyed picking out all the candies and designing it with the help of my mom,” Jennifer said. Everyone was encouraged to take some home in chevron “Love is Sweet” baggies. The newlyweds’ best advice? “I would tell them that if they have a vision of what they want for any aspect of their wedding day make sure they communicate that in great detail to their vendors, otherwise they may get something they were not expecting,” she said. “There will always be surprises, but not all surprises are good surprises.”

Handmade Rustic Fall Plantation Wedding in Tennessee

Bailee and Jimmy were married at Historic Carnton Plantation in Franklin, Tenn. on October 19. “Carnton Plantation has a tree from the 1800s that still stands on the grounds today,” Bailee said. “To us, this tree represented love and a strong foundation. We got married right in front of it in the garden. It was so romantic! Also, our venue was very secluded.” The bride wore a strapless ivory ballgown with a ruched bodice and rosette detailed skirt, accessorized with her hair down in loose curls, finger-tip length veil, and a pair of  t-strap high heels. while the groom wore a light gray suit, accessorized with a bow tie. Bridesmaids wore short pink dresses with yellow cardigans and carried bouquets of roses, hydrangeas, ranunculuses, proteas, and dusty millers. “When I first began planning the wedding, I was completely against a first look,” she said. “I was afraid that it would ruin that moment I walked down the aisle. I was so wrong! Having a first look was best for us because we got to see each other, have private time, and really take everything in. Seeing Jimmy’s reaction when he saw me in my dress was something I will forever cherish. Not to mention, it also calmed my nerves. I needed to see my best friend. Plus, we had extra time to take more amazing pictures too.” Signature cocktails were served in mason jars complete with straped straws and stirrers. The reception was held underneath a framed tent hung with string lights. “We picked out some rustic farm tables, and I hand-painted mason jars in shades of mustard and blush for each table,” Bailee said. “Our calligrapher designed stunning table numbers and a thank-you card for each table too.” She even performed “One Step Closer” with Jimmy’s younger brother. The newlyweds’ best advice? “On the day-of, it’s important to enjoy the day and allow your family and friends to enjoy the day as well. Hire a coordinator to take care of everything so you can relax and live in the moment. If you don’t like planning in general, then hire a planner to do that for you.”

Shelly and Eric were married in a ceremony at Tohono Chul Park followed by a reception at Wildflower American Cuisine in Tuscon, Ariz. on November 10. The bride wore a Rosa Clara silk organza ballgown with a bateau neckline and bow detailing on the back, accessorized with her hair in a low, chignon bun and blusher veil, while the groom wore a tan suit, accessorized with a blue button-up shirt and bow tie. Bridesmaids wore mix ‘n’ matched short pink dresses in various necklines and carried bouquets of roses, hydrangeas, and scabiosa pods. Before sunset, the couple opted for a first look.  The vows were sealed with a kiss underneath a twinkling-lit pergola surrounded by a grove of acacia trees in the Alice Y. Holsclaw Performance Garden. Fun fact: There may or may not have been some sightings of songbirds in the air. Dinner continued in the open-concept kitchen restaurant. Perfect for the foodie newlyweds! Wooden tables were decorated with nothing but plates, napkins, flatware, and glassware. Plus, engagement pictures, which served double-duty as numbers, to direct everyone to their assigned seats. “Each entree was artfully constructed and quite delicious,” Elizabeth Miller of Ann Bradford Photodesign said. “Afterwards, dancing was a must-have with several guests being from the Shelly’s dance troupe.” The night wasn’t complete without dessert too. A mini buttercream-frosted cake. Yum!
