From the Photographer: “Kate and Stephen’s wedding was held at the beautiful Gurney’s Inn in Montauk, Long Island. Situated on a bluff above the Atlantic Ocean, it’s the perfect location for a beach wedding. We met up with Kate on the morning of their wedding while she was still in the salon. We knew it was going to be an amazing day when we saw how Kate was smiling. She was so happy and so beautiful! Kate had bought matching robes for all the girls to wear and pose in before they got dressed. At this same time, Stephen was out riding dune buggies on the beach with the guys. When he got back to his cabin, he realized that he left his card for Kate at home. Without missing a beat, he called someone at his house and asked them to read the card to him so he could write the words down in a scrap of paper for Kate. After all, it’s the words that are important!
“Kate and Stephen opted to take their photos before their beachfront ceremony. That allowed us to go into the quaint town of Montauk to shoot some of their photos portraits together. They were an amazing couple and so much in love. Virtually all we had to do is put them together and the photos happened just the way we hoped, without much coaching. Their personalities and love for each other showed right on through.
“Their ceremony was held right on the beach on a beautiful sunny Long Island July afternoon. The surfboard that the groomsmen carried represented Kate’s brother who passed away while Kate and Stephen were planning their wedding. After a beautiful ceremony, we did a few more photos on the beach, then it was off to the cocktail hour. Their reception was wild and crazy with lots of friends from college dancing and celebrating with the couple.” - Mindi and Rich Verdi, Photography by Verdi
1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?
The beautiful rustic charm of the stone walls and exposed beams won us over.

Go with your gut, and do what makes you happy no matter what other people think or say.

I don’t have just one! I have so many–walking down the aisle and seeing all of my favorite people around, and my most favorite person at the end of the aisle, taking such fun photos with my best friends and family, dancing all night and seeing all of my favorite people on the dance floor around me, eating the incredible wedding cake, and seeing that view for the entire party.
This wedding is a perfect mix of “hipster” and classic. The couple got married in the Housing Works Bookstore Caféin New York. The venue had enough decor alone, that the simple details were perfect! I love that JBM wedding photographytook shots of the bride in a bright orange chair in the middle of a NYC side street. Such a fabulous photo I know she’ll have, and love, forever!
From the photographer: “Sean and Kate are one of those couples who have been together forever and the world just wouldn’t seem right if they weren’t. That’s what made their wedding day so special. It was a very personal occasion and I was privileged to shoot it for them.”
From the Bride: “Just have fun!! So many people told me that the day/night goes by in a blur, and it really was one of those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it days. Just enjoy it!”
