Kabri and Jora were married at Bedell Cellars in Cutchogue, N.Y. in front of 80 of their closest family and friends, traveling from over 14 states, on September 28. “The grounds gave us the connection we wanted to nature and the outdoors,” Kabri said. “There was a big tree that we could use as the centerpiece of our ceremony, and the open-air pavilion looked out onto the vineyard for the reception.” The color scheme incorporated red, oranges, and purples or “mountain sunset.” “We wanted to evoke the beauty of fall,” she said. As guests arrived, they were greeted with a chalkboard sign that quoted Robert Mondavi, “Wine to me is the passion, it’s friends and family, it’s warmth of heart and generosity of spirit.” The nuptials began shortly after they chose a seat not a side. To symbolize their unity, the two nail a bottle of wine and love letters inside a wooden box to be open on their fifth anniversary.”While the sun was setting over the vineyard, Jora and I rose and gave the first toast of the evening. . . we wanted to share our appreciation for their fervent desire to celebrate our marriage,” Kabri said. The newlyweds’ favorite part? The food! “The farm-to-table menu that we created with our caterer exhibited the season’s and region’s local and delicious produce. It was definitely the highlight,” she said.
Natalie and Douglas were married at Holimont Ski Resort in Ellicottville, N.Y. on September 1. “Holimont is a private ski resort, near the area we got engaged,” Natalie said. “From having the entire space to getting married at the top of the mountain (ferrying guests to the ceremony via chairlifts) to the gorgeous woodwork and floor to ceiling windows inside, we absolutely adored the overall flow.” The bride wore a sweetheart beaded bodice wedding gown with a ruffled skirt, accessorized with a feather hair pin in her updo and a birdcage veil, while the groom wore a gray suit, accessorized with an argyle tie. Bridesmaids and junior bridesmaids wore gray chiffon and cream lace dresses and carried dried flower arrangements. The vows took place in a traditional handfasting unity, but the processional and recessional music choices were super fun, including The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. The newlyweds’ favorite part of the reception? “The menu — British/American fusion — passed canapes, Pimm’s cocktail toast, five-course tasting, mini cupcakes in a variety of flavors, and s’mores bar,” she said. “Our favors were custom koozies, and a caricature artist too!”
Danielle and Rich were married at Brooklyn Winery in Brooklyn, N.Y. on August 18. “I had gone to Brooklyn Winery with a girlfriend one day, and they were hosting a wedding and thought, ‘Wow, what a different and interesting venue,'” Danielle said. “After we became engaged, we went to check it out more, and the place felt like it took our personalities and created an event space with it! The materials they use, their approach with food and wine, the decor — everything felt so natural to us!” Danielle walked down the aisle wearing a sweetheart lace wedding gown with an illusion neckline to a string trio playing an unchained melody, while Rich stood waiting patiently wearing a classic black tuxedo and gray tie. Fun fact: They were married by the bride’s sister! “I definitely didn’t think I would cry but just the feeling of so much love and support with our closest family and friends being there made me melt,” she said. Above, hung cafe lights and garland, and below on banquet tables, was vintage china and sprigs of rosemary at each place setting. “We chose to have a dessert bar featuring our favorite Brooklyn vendors,” Danielle said. “We picked mini doughnuts from Dough based in Clinton Hill and insanely delicious pies from Butter & Scotch. We served them out with kraft take out boxes stamped with our initials and wedding date.” Their first dance? Chris Cornell’s cover song to Led Zeppelin’s “Thank You.”
Aldrin and Mike were married at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in New York City on February 16. “When we first arrived to the Lighthouse, it was exactly a year prior to our wedding day,” Aldrin said. “The sun filled the gorgeous venue, and the views of the Hudson were absolutely breathtaking. Mike and I had to book it!” The ceremony was officiated by the couple’s good friend, who also is a stand-up comedian. “Our guests kept complementing us on how different and personal it was,” he said. “We all laughed and cried — it was perfect.” They also placed three bottles of wine into a wooden box to open on their first, fifth, and tenth anniversaries to symbolize their unity. The reception started with their first dance to Beyonce’s “Love on Top.” “It was a great transition to what became a huge dance party,” Aldrin said. Tables were decorated with green hydrangea and pink orchid centerpieces, along with an navy blue embossed menu card at each setting. The newlyweds’ best advice? “Take a 15-minute breather in the middle of your reception — together and alone — to soak in the day,” he said.
Lisa and Chris were married at the Inn at West Settlement in Roxbury, N.Y. on August 17. “The view was stunning in every direction,” Lisa said. Especially of the Catskill Mountain peaks and spring-fed pond! As guests arrived to the ceremony, they were asked to “Today, two families become one, pick a seat not a side.” The bride walked down the aisle wearing a v-neck wedding gown, accessorized with an ivory sash, while the groom stood waiting next to the fabric-draped chuppah wearing a dark gray suit, accessorized with no tie. “The sound of everyone we love laughing and cheering” was the newlyweds’ favorite moment. The reception followed inside the barn lit with paper lanterns. Tables were decorated with vintage vessels and vases filled with wildflower bouquets and even every chair was different. A do-it-yourself photo booth was setup for Instagram. Of course, the hashtag was #lisaandchris4eva. In lieu of a guest book, names and messages were written on hearts and dropped into a frame to hang in their home.
