Q & A with the Bride & Groom:

What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

We wanted a venue that provided space for our guest to have small gatherings wherein they could catch up and share stories. But we also wanted to be able to have an indoor/outdoor option that accentuated the beauty of where we live.

Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

Saying our vows under an umbrella as sprinkles fell around us

The groomsmen shaking things up with chivalry as they gave their coats to the bridesmaids.

The toasts from my Best Man and Cali – one of Kit’s bridesmaids.

If you could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding, what would it be?

Get as much of the big stuff out of the way early, and as you get closer to the date delegate so that you can be present with each other and family to enjoy the celebration. You can plan all you want but in the end, hold it loosely so you can enjoy the day whatever may come. Probably good advice for a marriage too.

Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

Kendall: I could not get through my vows without crying and for all attempts to keep it together I just let the tears come and smiled my way through it as Kit tried not to cry, looking into my water-filled eyes. Plenty of tears and laughter throughout.

Kit: Saying our vows and holding hands was a moment I will always remember. Looking into his eyes knowing that this was it for the rest of our lives and vowing to create a beautiful partnership through all the good and the bad is something I hold so close to my heart. Our first dance “When It Don’t come Easy” by Patty Griffin was the epitome of what our marriage is and continues to become. He is my best friend and I couldn’t imagine life without him!!

Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

It was the middle of winter when we found the T Lazy 7 Ranch. The grounds were covered in snow up to our knees, but when we drove up to the meadow and saw the maroon bells, we knew right then that we had found our place. I just could imagine how beautiful it would look in the summer, if it looked this breathtaking in the winter. We loved the natural beauty of the property, and the intimate and warm feeling it had even in the middle of January! That’s exactly what we had hoped to find!

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

We really made it a point of adding a lot of special details. One of my favorites was the beignets and cannolis that were served as part of the dessert bar. Michael is from Louisiana and grew up eating beignets as a kid, and I come from a big Italian family where cannolis are the most devoured dessert, so it was a really fun personal touch to have incorporated. The photo wall when you walked into the ranch was probably my favorite detail though. My Mother- in-Law and I selected old family photos that included grandparents on their wedding day, family reunions and other memorable times that included everyone at the wedding. It was a nice way to show everyone there how much we appreciated them being there and being a special part of our life. The day before the wedding my Dad had tried to convince me that I should ride up on a horse from the stables on the property. I thought it sounded like a crazy idea and went to bed thinking no way! The next day literally minutes before the wedding ceremony was about to begin, my bridesmaids and Dad convinced me to do it. So, off I went in my full wedding gear on top of this beautiful horse with my dad stabilizing me on the one side. I’m happy I did it because it was such a special thing!

3. Give us the one moment from your wedding that you cannot stop thinking about.

I can’t stop thinking about when we read our vows. We wrote our own based on the idea of “promises.” It was such a special moment and a wonderful way to personalize the ceremony. Everyone there mentioned to me how much they loved that we had written our own vows.

Classic and Charming Estate Wedding in North Carolina

Q & A with the Bride:

What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

We definitely wanted a destination wedding, but we were finding that many of our friends and family wouldn’t be able to attend if we chose a venue that was out of the country. So we decided to still go the destination route, but in the U.S. One of my bridesmaids suggested the Biltmore Estate as a possible location. It was perfect because it was a central location for my friends and family, who are mostly in Florida, and my husband’s friends and family in New Jersey. And the grounds were incredible and there are lots of activities for people both on and off the estate.

Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

We knew from the beginning that we wanted a vintage, rustic feel to our wedding. So to accomplish that, we had a black and white checkered dance floor, which added so much to the décor. We also added crystal chandeliers, which provided such a beautiful contrast with the barn venue. Finally, the fact that we opted for two long feasting tables instead of round tables gave our wedding an intimate feel.

Give us one moment in your wedding day that you can’t stop thinking about?

Chris and I both agree that it was our first look. Neither one of us knew what the other would be wearing, which is typical with respect to the bride’s attire. But we decided that Chris’ attire would also be a surprise for me so it added to the anticipation for me as well. Seeing each other before the wedding meant that we got to spend pretty much the whole day together because even after the first look our wedding party and parents accompanied us to the Biltmore Estate for more photos and then to the ceremony where we had time to freshen up and have a cocktail.

Sharing another gorgeous mountain wedding today. This one takes place in Winter Park, Colorado. The bride and groom included their two adorable pups into their ceremony. My favorite detail would have to be the placecards – love the use of buttons on a simple folded paper name card!

Mountainside Summer Wedding in Washington State

Leavenworth, Washington

Of course we love this wedding, for multiple reasons, including the first photo! Dogs in weddings just don’t get old for me. Especially when they are adorned with matching wreathes for their aisle walk. But alas, back to the couple! Erin and Andrew are adorable. They had their wedding at the Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort in Leavensworth, Washington. The location for a June wedding was stunning and the mountains provided a picturesque backdrop for couple photos. For the details, there is nothing better than simple one stem florals in short glass vases. It’s classic, and provides just the right pop of color.
