Q & A with the Bride:

What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

Jonny grew up spending time at this barn. He had many memories there and had a personal connection with the location. While we were dating, we went fishing there quite often.  I am an art teacher and I loved the rustic aesthetic and was excited to add a touch of delicacy to make the venue our own.

Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

Jonny and my father built a dock for us to get married on. It was amazing and helped create photographs with such a beautiful background of water. We appeared to be floating!

My Grandma Lampe made jam as our wedding favor. It was canned in glass jelly jars and we labeled them  J+J along with the flavor. We tied lace over the lid using a multi-textures yarn. A perfect touch!

The details & décor. Being a former graphic designer, I loved designing our invitations! In the barn, we strung large bulb Christmas lights throughout the barn. We draped gossamer to coordinate with the lights. We also bought an assortment of glass vases and containers, sprayed them white to appear as milk glass, placed babies breath in them and used this as centerpieces. Under the white glass we laid crème doilies that came from a dollar store! Our many DIY projects made the aesthetics of our wedding day complete!

If you could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding, what would it be?

Delegate. Do not be afraid to kindly ask for help with projects from the get go. Those that love you and are near you will be more than happy to help. Especially if you are doing a lot of DIY projects like we did…help from family and friends was such a blessing!

Nautical Waterside Style Shoot in Missouri

Posted by Kim on Aug 31, 2012

As you start heading off for your Labor Day weekend plans (we hope you’re doing something fun!), we just wanted to sneak in one last inspirational summer style shoot that came to us from a group of talented Missouri vendors. We were huge fans of the whole nautical theme this summer, and this shoot is a perfect example of doing the whole seaside-wedding thing without going overboard (pun completely intended).

Have a great long weekend – we’ll be back next week with lots more wedding inspiration to kick off fall!

Our Q&A with the Bride:

What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

Before I even met my prince charming, I always knew I wanted a wedding at a white country church and a red barn. It took one look at the barn and I knew it was the venue. It is the perfect venue for your dream country wedding.

Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

It’s hard to narrow them down to just three. My three favorite details from my wedding would be our best man (my husband’s brother and a Marine) wearing his dress blues while walking down the aisle to “My Country ‘Tis of Thee,” the firework show at the end of the night and seeing all of my maid of honor and my work come together to make the perfect day! We worked so hard the year leading up to the wedding. Little details were the most important thing to me. It was definitely a DIY, Americana and country themed wedding.

Tell us about the one moment from your wedding day that you can’t stop thinking about.

I can’t stop thinking about the whole day. Everything was perfect and it was the happiest day of my life, marrying my best friend surrounded by everyone we love. It was a very hot day for an outside wedding and our guests were glowing with sweat, but the heat didn’t bother this bride!

Mindy & Jim

October 30

Kansas City, Missouri

Mindy and Jim planned a modern wedding at the Boulevard Brewery Company, overlooking downtown Kansas City, with the help of  Ultrapom, a wedding decor rental company in Overland Park, Kansas. Their outdoor ceremony had breathtaking views of Kansas City. The reception was full of personalized details and their portraits took place at the Nelson Art Museum, where they got engaged. ~Heather Brulez Photography

Teal & Red Summer Wedding

Posted by Jeffra on Dec 05, 2011

Tiffany & Trae

St. Louis, MO

About this wedding: “The bride was inspired by her husband Trae, when it came to designing the overall look of the wedding. Trae is from the Bahamas, so they incorporated the islands into the wedding – an Island Chic theme, using colors from the sea (teal for the water of the Bahamas, red for coral, white for sand). A coral motif was incorporated throughout the invitations, centerpieces, programs, and escort cards, and starfish imagery was used in table name signage, monogram, Mr. and Mrs. seating signage, and programs. Save the dates, programs, menus, escort cards (and escort card table), table cards, monogram, bride and groom seating signage, door initials, red pomander balls (aisle decor), specialty drink names and signage, flagged drink stir sticks, photo booth backdrop, Tiffany box chocolate favors, and monogram favor hangtags were all elements designed and created by Events Luxe in the Design Studio.”
