Winter weddings are meant to be intimate, especially when it comes to your reception seating floor plan. Creating your chart isn’t the most fun-filled task, but, thankfully, WeddingWire has a FREE tool to help keep you organized. You can easily drag and drop guests at different shapes and sizes. Christine and Blaine were married at Grand Velas Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico on March 15. The bride wore a strapless sweetheart a-line wedding gown with a ruched bodice, accessorized with her hair in a curly sideswept ponytail, jeweled headband, and a pair of glitter platform pumps, while the groom wore a tan suit with a white button-up shirt, accessorized with no tie. She carried a bouquet of roses, carnations, and lillies. The bridesmaids wore high-low hemline dresses, and the groomsmen wore an orange button-up shirt and khaki pants. Fun fact: they were their kids! Guests were greeted with a wooden sign that said, “shoe valet” to encourage them to go barefoot in the sand for the ceremony at sunset. Each sat rattan chairs atop bamboo rugs as they witnessed the exchanging of vows underneath a chuppah draped with fabric. Once it was sealed with a kiss, it was official! Hugs were the first thing in order before the processional and after the recessional, of course. The reception followed shortly thereafter on the Zen Grand Pool Terrace. Tables were decorated with turquoise linens, orange napkins, and lanterns lit with candles. A salad and entree were served for dinner then a mini cake, topped with skulls, was cut for dessert. Dancing was held on an LED panel floor. And at the end of the night, some even jumped into the water!

Katie and Dante were married in a traditional courthouse ceremony followed by a reception at the University Club of Santa Barbara in Santa Barbara, Calif. on August 9. “It was beautiful and low-key,” Katie said. “We love that combination.” The bride wore a BHLDN strapless a-line wedding dress with a tiered tulle skirt, accessorized with her hair in an updo and a pair of wedges, while the groom wore a light gray suit, accessorized with a navy blue checkered button-up and tie. She carried a bouquet of carnations, calla lilies, proteas, succulents, scabiosa pods, and ferns. Guests were greeted inside the courthouse’s mural room with floor-to-ceiling hand-painted walls and two wrought-iron chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. Fun fact: It dates back to 1850. “Walking down the aisle [with both parents was my favorite moment],” she said. Almost 80 sat in pews to witness the exchanging of vows. Once it was sealed with a kiss, it was official! The reception took place next door inside the historic mansion. Tables were decorated with white linens, mason jar centerpieces,  wooden numbers, and favor bags,”wishing riches for the new Mr. and Mrs.,” filled with lottery tickets at each place setting, surrounded by upholstered chairs. After dinner, a mini cake was cut and served for dessert. The newlyweds’ best advice? “Relax and enjoy,” Katie said. “As long as you have the people that are important to you in your life with you, you are all set.” At the end of the night, they exited amongst a sea of sparklers.

Intimate Rooftop Summer Hotel Wedding in Puerto Rico

Angelica and Nicolas were married at the Olive Boutique Hotel in Condado, Puerto Rico on July 13.  “From the moment that we found it, we knew it was the perfect place because it is private and rustic,” Nicolas said. The bride wore a v-neck lace fit ‘n’flare wedding gown with a keyhole back, accessorized with her hair in an updo and a pair of peep-toe platform pumps, while the groom wore a navy blue suit, accessorized with a tie. Bridesmaids wore mix ‘n’ matched short chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of roses and baby’s breath. Guests (all thirty of them) were greeted with a picture frame that said, “Thanks for your love and support” as well as sunglasses to beat the summer heat on top of the roof terrace. The ceremony took place right at 5 o’clock just before sunset with scenic views of the lagoon. “It was a beautiful day that had many details, but the best was the sunset the God gave us,” he said. Fun fact: it was even officiated by Nicolas’ father. The reception took place shortly after. Restored wooden tables were decorated with log centerpieces, votive candles, and coffee bean bags, which also served double-duty as favors, at each place setting, surrounded by upholstered chairs. The food was one of the main highlights of the night. Why? Because it was inspired by the Mediterranean cuisine. Plus, not to mention the three-tiered naked cake. The newlyweds’ best advice? “Our wedding was made 85 percent by ourselves because it was very clear what we wanted and could do, so we suggest that on everything is the dream of the couple that will be reflected, whether made by you or a wedding planner,” Nicolas said. “Further, if you like our wedding, the best option is a renowened restaurant!”

Allie and Bryan were married at Kitchen Chicago in Chicago, Ill. on August 2. “It was the only place we actually saw in person,” Allie said. “It had the vibe we wanted and a price that fit! And all the vendors were who we wanted, which helps when on a budget.” The bride wore a strapless chiffon a-line wedding gown with a notch neckline, accessorized with a jeweled sash and a pair of comfy TOMS slip-ons, while the groom wore a light gray suit, accessorized with a tie. Bridesmaids wore mix ‘n’ matched short dresses and carried bouquets of roses, stock, craspedia balls, and succulents. “We chose neutrals with a touch of teal blue,” she said. “So, the venue could stand on it’s own.” The ceremony took place inside the shared-use space with exposed brick walls as the backdrop. “The music playing, watching my bridesmaids walk down the aisle to my favorite ‘Sleeping at Last’ song, and seeing my smiling future husband,” Allie said referring to the moment she can’t stop thinking about. After the vows were sealed with a kiss (or two), cocktail hour began with an assortment of local beers and wines from Trader Joe’s. Guests found their seats via escort cards hanging from clothespins. “There were lots of do-it-yourself projects,” she said. “Hand-pressing all the save-the-dates and invitations, and our polaroid guest book was a huge success.” Even the Instagram hashtag #fleminweddin too. Farm tables were decorated with white linens, burlap runners, vintage vases, vessels, mason jars, and wine bottles, and votive candles. Dinner was catered by Chipotle! Imagine eating all the burritos, chips, guacamole, and pico de gallo you wanted. Ole! Dancing began with the choreographed first dance and ended with a sparkler send-off. The newlyweds’ best advice? “Plan every detail with meaning,” Allie said. “If it’s for the sake of tradition, and has no meaning to you and your future spouse, it’s not needed. Be wise with your spending, it adds up so quickly.”
