Q & A with the Couple:

What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

The natural setting. The park sits on the other side of the Oak Leaf bike trail. To get into the park, you have to walk through a tunnel—it’s like to shed the city and step into a wonderful natural setting. Also, the ceremony space sits right on the bank of the Milwaukee River with woods on the other side. It was just the perfect setting that we wanted.

Which details from your wedding were your favorites?

  1. The “make your own s’mores” bar—this was put together by our caterer, Potawatomi Bingo Casino. It was a HUGE hit with our guests.
  2. Our wedding party transportation, Cream City Rickshaw. Such an awesome way to tour the city of Milwaukee! The drivers were very nice and friendly, so was the owner in planning the route and payments! The wedding party loved it because they were carted around and got a lot of compliments from passers-by when we were  riding through the Third Ward. For Andrew and I, we loved the time to be able to spend together and just talk about what had happened, what was about to happen and how happy we were.
  3. Our DJ. A friend of ours was our DJ, and we told him “no traditional wedding music.” We wanted to have a nightclub feel with the music to keep the party going until the very end. Needless to say, the dance floor was packed the entire night, and the reception venue turned on the lights at the end of the night and said, “that’s it! You guys need to leave.”

Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

Dancing down the center aisle to “Chasing the Sun” by The Wanted, holding hands, smiling ear to ear and knowing that we had just pledged ourselves to each other for the rest of our life. (And we are so thrilled that Brittany captured that moment in the photo!).

Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

Well, when we picked the venue, there really wasn’t much to look at – just a pile of dirt because the venue hadn’t even been built yet. When we sat down to talk to the owners, they shared their vision with us, and I was hooked. They just had such a passion for what they wanted to do for their brides. I knew it was the place for us the second I met them. We booked the venue with nothing but faith in two women we just met. And they gave us everything they promised and much much more!

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

The flowers first and foremost! They were perfect. I didn’t even know what they were going to look like until the day of my wedding. I gave the florist creative freedom to do what she wanted. I just told her that I wanted people to feel “enchanted,” and she captured it perfectly. Mint Springs added lanterns and beautiful lighting to the reception, which helped create the perfect atmosphere. They also used tree branches and a lot of greenery to give off that “enchanted forest” feel. I loved every bit of the reception decor.

3. If you could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding what would it be?

Let go of control! By the time we were halfway through our engagement, I think I changed my mind on colors, themes and decor about three times. I couldn’t make decisions about anything. I had an idea of how I wanted things to look and feel, but didn’t know how to carry it out. So finally, I just told my vendors to “surprise me.” They are in the business for a reason and are darn good at what they do. If you give them creative freedom and trust them to do a good job, they will absolutely go above and beyond to prove it and will love you for it.

4. Give us the one moment in your wedding you can’t stop thinking about.

The first look between my husband and I was simply perfect. Mint Springs Farm has this adorable greenhouse next to the bridal suite, and my photographer, Rae Marshall, thought it would be a great idea to use it for our first look photos. The pictures turned out flawless because Rae was able to capture both of our reactions. The look on his face when he turned around was something I’ll never forget. Plus, I loved doing a first look because it gave us a chance to have a romantic moment before the crowd of people got there.

Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

The silos! I loved that the venue used to be a  farm, and the inn still had so much character left over from 1810.

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

1. The place cards on the lattice with mini clothes pins – I borrowed a co-workers old typewriter to help create the cards.

 2. The floral arrangements in the old milk jug, and the old watering can that I got from antique stores up the road from my house.

 3. The old suitcase that I turned into a card box with pictures of Chad and I as kids pinned to the inside.

3. If you could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding, what would it be?

No matter how crazy it gets, take 10 minutes out of the night where the two of you can sneak away and have a moment alone together. It was one of my favorite parts of the day!

3. Give us the one moment in your wedding that you can’t stop thinking about.

Getting to kiss my husband for the first time.

Q&A with the Bride

What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

I grew up in Ipswich, Massachusetts, and I knew that I wanted to have my wedding in my hometown. There was no better place than the Crane Estate, simply because of its aesthetics and breathtaking views. We wanted to bring our family and friends to one of the most beautiful locations in the Northeast to celebrate our big day!

Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

  1. Wedding Favors: My dad is a professional candy maker and he made saltwater taffy especially for our wedding day. It meant a lot to me to be able to share a part of my family with our guests.
  2. Outside Ceremony/Reception: We were lucky to have beautiful weather and held both our ceremony and reception outside on the Grand Allee and back patio of the Estate. It was an amazing backdrop to exchange our vows and to celebrate with family and friends.
  3. Floral Arrangements/Reception Decor: Since the Crane Estate had so much to offer when it came to natural beauty, we decided on simple, clean, elegant decor and floral arrangements. I couldn’t have been happier with how everything from my bouquet to the wedding favors, menu cards, floral arrangements, and even the table settings looked. The decor did not distract from the Crane Estate’s elegance, rather, it enhanced it.

Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

There are so many to choose from, but if I were to pick just one it would be our last dance of the evening.  Everything leading up to that moment was perfect; our ceremony, the vows, first dance, toasts, dinner, dancing, cake cutting…everything! We had pre-selected the song “Mirrors” by Justin Timberlake as our last dance of the night but never imaged the reaction we would receive from our guests. We were still outside dancing under the stars and instinctively all of our family and friends formed a perfect circle around us and within a few seconds everyone started singing and clapping to the song as just the two of us danced in the middle. You could feel the excitement and love that everyone had for us and it was a great confirmation that all of our guests enjoyed their time at our wedding!

Natural and Unique Green Resort Wedding in Texas

The Woodlands, Texas

~~~~~~~~
Q&A with the Bride:
What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?
It didn’t take long for either of us to decide that the Woodlands Resort and Conference Center would be the perfect place to get married when we walked outside on their forest deck to look at our ceremony location. The deck sits out over a lake with beautiful fountains and the scenery was so gorgeous we knew that the need for doing any decorating would be minimal. It was also a huge seller to us that the resort catered dinner, made our cakes, and much more included in our package to make our lives easier.
Which details from your wedding were your favorites?
Our three favorite details were taking pictures with the sunset after the ceremony, listening to our loved ones give toasts, and the non-stop dancing.
If you could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding, what would it be?
Our one piece of advice for other couples would be, if possible, investing in professionals was way more worth it than we realized. We can’t get over how much of a lifesaver it was to have the help of people that knew what they were doing. Thanks to the resort and our other vendors, the wedding day itself felt effortless.
Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.
My favorite moment would be the exit. Brent carried me up a long flight of stairs out of the reception hall and everyone was screaming so enthusiastically waiting for us at our exit that we knew everyone had an excellent time.
