Peplums, which graced the ready-to-wear runways a few seasons ago, began popping up at Bridal Market last Spring, so this season designers pushed the envelope even further by taking peplums to the extreme! Asymmetrical, double and embellished peplums walked down almost every runway this Fall.
So why is a peplum so popular? It’s a chic way to accentuate your curves as well as give the illusion of a slimmer waistline. It also offers designers a myriad of ways to embellish a dress – ruffles, beading, tiers, etc. It can be both sexy and demure at the same time – a true win, ladies!
Without further ado, a few of our favorite peplum gowns:
This Olia Zavozina gown was one of the first we saw strut down the runway, and it’s made a lasting impression. The lace used gives the dress a more classic feel, but the mini-peplum and glam waist details update it for the 2013 bride.
This short white lace dress from Reem Acra is a fun and fresh take on a peplum wedding dress. With a high illusion neckline, sleeves, and jewel encrusted belt detailing at the waist, it will add just the right amount of flair to your wedding day.
Eugenia Couture created a dress that is just plain cool. Rather than stopping at the waist, the peplum cascades down the side of the gown in the dress featured above. In addition to the longer peplum, a short option is available too. You can also convert your dress from ceremony to reception by completely removing the peplum piece.
