Lindsey and Jon Paul were married at Cabin Bluff, a hunting retreat, in Woodbine Ga. September 21. After years of being a camp counselor, Lindsey knew she wanted a “glamping” wedding weekend along the Cumberland River. She wore a lace capped-sleeve wedding gown accented with an ivory sash and blue Badgley Mischka peep-toe pumps while Jon Paul wore a gray suit and blue tie to the outdoor ceremony. Going with a rustic theme, a clear frame reception tent was decorated with grapevine balls and twinkling lights overhead and centerpieces included candles in votives surrounded by greenery. There even were tables for the smallest attendants! Each one received a colored place mat, jellybeans, and toys to keep them entertained.
1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?
We got married in my grandparent’s backyard. I spent most of my holidays at their home growing up, and my parents got engaged and married there, so it is a very special place for me. Even though my husband and I are from DC, we wanted to share Low Country with our friends.
2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?
My first favorite part was getting ready with all my amazing best friends and sisters upstairs in Mimi (my grandmother’s) bathroom. I have so many memories of watching Mimi put on her red lipstick in that mirror and getting ready there reminded me what a beautiful legacy I get to be a part of. Second, at the end of the ceremony, my cousins surprised us with a little flash mob and sang “Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher” as our recessional. It was an awesome way to get the party started. Lastly, the setting was perfect — we had a full moon, high tide which made for a gorgeous evening.
3. Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.
The moment from my wedding that I hope I’ll hold with me always is standing on my Dad’s arm at the top of the stairs on my grandparent’s porch with my niece playing the cello and most everyone I love in the world in front of me on the lawn. It’s a surreal and very joyful perspective to have.
From the photographer: “Jeff and Blair, reality TV stars of BRAVO’s Newlyweds: The First Year, married in Savannah, Georgia at the doors of the historic and prestigious Harper Fowlkes House. They arrived in a majestic horse drawn carriage with the ceremony performed by Reverend Steve Schulte with their closest friends and family. They were transported post-ceremony to their “Southern Soiree.” Guests were directed to their tables that were named after great Southern movies and treated to an elegant evening in a luxurious garden-like setting complete with chandeliers. The details including the cake were all black and white and natural greens. All enjoyed Southern style food and childhood favorites like Girl Scout Cookies and milk. Guests popped streamers and sent the happy couple on their way at the end of the night. It was a perfect send off on their adventure!” – Donna Von Bruening of Donna Von Bruening Photographers
