Talia and Clayton were married in a traditional church ceremony at Heinz Memorial followed by a reception at LeMont in Lemont, Pa. on May 31. The bride wore a sweetheart silk mermaid wedding gown with a keyhole back, accessorized with her hair in an updo, jeweled sash, and a pair of Betsy Johnson high heels, while the groom wore a black suit, accesorized with a bow tie. Bridesmaids wore long neutral chiffon dresses in various necklines and carried bouquets of roses, hydrangeas, and dusty millers. Inside the chapel’s red front doors were vaulted ceilings lined with stained glass chancel windows. Fun fact: It was a family tradition to get hitched here! Talia was escorted down the aisle by her teary-eyed father and up the aisle by her googly-eyed husband Clayton. Afterwards, the newlyweds decided to take a stroll through University of Pittsburgh’s campus for portraits since they opted out of a first look. They also made a stop at Mount Washington, which is an incline platform running the entire length of Grandview Avenue, for a few scenic views of the skyline. Meanwhile, guests enjoyed cocktail hour. Escort cards featured hand-scripted font similar to the invitations and ceremony programs too. Notice a theme? Tables were decorated with white linens, silver-rimmed charger plates, tall blossiming branches centerpieces, and wine bottle numbers. The cake was cut with “I do” and “Me too” forks, and boxes of cookies were given out as favors at the end of the night.
Megan and Dan were married at the Saint Paul Hotel in Saint Paul, Minn. on June 29. “We knew we wanted a hotel, so we could do everything in one place,” Megan said. “The Saint Paul Hotel was classic and beautiful and didn’t require much additional decoration. It was perfect!” The bride wore a strapless sweetheart satin fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown, accessorised with her hair half-up/half-down in braided loose curls, a lace capelet, and a pair of Badgley Mischka rhinestone peep-toe high heels, while the groom wore a black suit, accessorized with a polka dot tie. Bridesmaids wore long black chiffon dresses in various necklines and carried bouquets of garden roses, ranunculuses, hydrangeas, and astilbes. Before the ceremony, the coupe opted for a first look and decided to take portraits in front of a mural with music celebrity stars like Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Edward Sharpe & The Magnet Zeros, The Ramones, and Tracy Chapman. “I think about Dan and I sitting at the reception and looking around the room,” she said. “We were so overwhelmed and overjoyed that all these people had come from near and far to celebrate us. It was a very surreal moment.” Tables were decorated with striped linens, tall hurricane vase centerpieces dripping with crystals, and votive candles. Dinner and dessert was one of the most important aspects. After all, it was at a private cooking class where Dan proposed. “Food is one thing that really brought us together and cemented our relationship,” Megan said. The newlyweds’ best advice? “Getting a planner for the day-of if you can,” she said. “Our planner from Premier Planning was fantastic and she really eased our stress and was beyond helpful in helping us plan and execute our day.”
Courtney and Cody were married in a traditional church ceremony at Cathedral of Christ the King followed by a reception at Summerour Studio in Atlanta, Ga. on August 31. “The one thing about our venue that told us it was the one was that it felt like stepping into a different world,” Courtney said. “The Summerour architecture firm transformed the studio from a printing company into a breathtaking space with an al fresco courtyard reminscent of a Tuscan villa all in the heart of industrial West Midtown.” The bride wore a strapless lace fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown, accessorized with a pair of Kate Spade peep toe high heels with bows, while the groom wore a gray suit, accessorized with a matching tie and pocket square. Bridesmaids wore long navy blue chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of garden roses, hydrangeas, and greenery. “There were so many elements of my family that accompanied me as I walked down the aisle,” she said. “From my grandmother’s wedding gown lace wrapped around my bouquet to charm-sized photos of my father and grandfather that had passed away two years before. And, of course, having my brother give me away made the moment all the more special too.” Flower girls even handed out stemmed white roses to guests during the processional and recessional. Following cocktail hour, dinner and dancing began. “After grappling between two songs, [our first dance] was a Jason Mraz song, but later in the evening, an Adele song played, and we were able to share another more intimate, private dance,” Courtney said. Farm tables were decorated with pink runners, tall centerpieces along with trailing antique vases and vessels, wine bottle numbers, and peach cake pops, which served double-duty as favors, at each place setting. “The one piece of advice that resonated with me before my wedding, and that I continue to pass on, is that things will not go wrong on your wedding day; they will go differently,” she said. “This helped put changes in details and plans into perspective, and allowed me to not be too deeply invested in any one element of the day. A couple puts so much thought, time, money and emotion into planning a wedding, and no single erroneous detail should eclipse that.”
Jordan and Will were married at the Beaufort Inn in Beaufort, S.C. on October 12. The bride wore a cap-sleeved satin a-line wedding gown with an illusion neckline, accessorized with a pair of sparkly peep-toe pumps, while the groom wore a black suit, accessorized with a bow tie. Bridesmaids wore long periwinkle one-shoulder chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of garden roses, hydrangeas, and dusty millers. Notice each one was gifted a pair of Kate Spade “putting on the ritz” studs? Guests were greeted at the ceremony with scenic views of Broomfield Creek just as the sun was setting. Bonus: There was also a performance from the First African Baptist Church choir! It was official soon after the vows were read and repeated one after another. The reception began with of course, tons of congratulations at the historic bed and breakfast. A chalkbaord sign displayed the quote, “Here’s to love, laughter, and happily ever after as Jordan and Will start their new life. Let’s all toast to the new husband and wife!” Tables were decorated with neutral linens, glass hurricane centerpieces filled to the brim with greenery, mercury glass votive candles, and surrounded by cross-back chairs. Not to mention the entire frame tent was draped with fabric and lit with crystal chandeliers. And the mirror panel bar for cocktails! Dinner included traditional Southern fare such as shrimp and grits, mini angus hamburgers, pineapple glazed chicken sliders, and slow roasted prime rib with butter lettuce salad. In case someone needed to take a break from dancing, there was also a comfy lounge with a sofa and two love seats. Dessert was a plenty — pecan tarts and chocolate cupcakes. That was in addition to cake! At the end of the night, the newlyweds exited amongst a sea of sparklers and were off to their honeymoon.
Julia and Paul were married in a traditional church ceremony at Corpus Christi Catholic-Christian Faith Community followed by a reception at Dove Canyon Courtyard in Dove Canyon, Calif. on October 26. “When we first drove up to it, I said no way because it is in the back of a strip mall and didn’t look appealing,” Julia said. “My fiance said we were already there, so we had to go in. As soon as we walked into the courtyard, I knew it was the place! It just felt so magical with all the twinkle lights everywhere. Truly like a dream.” The bride wore a custom-made lace fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown, accessorized with a pair of sparkly peep-toe high heels, while the groom wore a three-piece gray suit, accessorized with a striped tie. Bridesmaids wore long navy blue chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of hydrangeas, cala lillies, and roses. “I wish I could wear my dress everyday,” she said. “Walking down the aisle and seeing my soon-to-be husband for the first time [was most memorable]. We didn’t do a first look, so it was the first time that day that we saw each other. I have never been filled with so much joy in my life. It was an incredible feeling.” Cocktail hour began with an assortment of libations, including a signature Lychee martini. Tables were decorated with white linens, yellow napkins, and a CD at each place setting, which also served double-duty as favors. In lieu of cake, there was lots and lots of cupcakes. Yum! The newlywed’s best advice? “Take some time to do things together during the planning process that have nothing to do with the wedding,” Julia said. “It can become very stressful and overwhelming at times. You need to take some time to breathe and remember what it is really all about. Don’t get too caught up in all the minor details that you lose sight of that.”
