“Fete Des Fleurs” Styled Shoot

Posted by Kim on May 16, 2013

Today’s Florida-based styled shoot was inspired by a pink-and-green swatch of striped fabric, which was used throughout the décor. The theme? “Fete Des Fleurs,” which means “Feast of Flowers” in French. Says the photographer, “The reasoning behind the feast of flowers was to create an atmosphere of feasting in a French garden, with a combination of florals, succulents, vegetables, and fruits as the main courses.” We’re obsessed with the lush and gorgeous floral arrangements, the regal gold and pink paper suite, and the incredible striped Hayley Paige gown that so perfectly matches the theme!

Q & A with the Bride:

What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

I wanted an indoor/outdoor venue with a view. I really had a hard time finding something like that in the Tampa/St. Pete area. All it took was one tour of the Westin’s BluVu Room and I was sold! The view is absolutely spectacular indoors and outdoors!

Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

The outdoor patio décor (grass bar, patterned tablecloths, and fun pillows), the card table showing pictures of family members that are no longer with us, and the candy bar.

If you could offer one piece of advice for other couples planning their wedding, what would it be?

Enjoy the planning process! It can sometimes become tedious and stressful, but seeing your vision come to life at the end is all worth it!

Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

I really loved the grand exit with the sparklers! It really solidified that we were finally married!

Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

We love downtown St. Petersburg, and we were looking for an outdoor waterfront venue. When the Dali Museum opened, we knew it was the prefect venue not only because we got engaged in the city, but because of my love of Dali art and my family being from Spain. We have eclectic taste, and the Dali’s unique space gave us beautiful architecture, an outdoor garden with waterfront views and great art!

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites.

1. The live flamenco band.
2. The candlelit reception in the garden, and the gorgeous centerpieces with beautiful, bright circus roses against the eggplant linens and copper and gold accents. We even had FIREWORKS, perfection!
3. Wedding stationary.

3. Give us the one moment from your wedding day that you can’t stop thinking about.

V.J. and I exchanged wedding arras, which are Spanish coins during our ceremony. The coins were from my Abulea’s (grandmother) hometown in Valencia, Spain. Each coin symbolizes the commitments we made to each other: love, trust, respect, joy, happiness, harmony, wisdom, wholeness, nurture, care, cooperation and peace. It was so meaningful for us to carry on this tradition for our family and have these coins as an heirloom.

Q & A with the Bride:

Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

Neither my husband nor I are religious, so we made the ceremony more casual and romantic including photos of our parents and grandparents on their wedding day, which was important to us. I also loved the way our bridal party turned out.  I gave them a color palette and told them to make a decision themselves! It turned out better than I could have chosen myself. The guys were handsome and the girls were beautiful in their knee-length, one-strap dresses. In addition, the food was phenomenal. The chef, who is one of our friends, did an exquisite job making all the appetizers and dinner as well as the midnight snacks.

Give us one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

The one moment I can’t stop thinking about from our wedding was when we began our first dance. My husband, who is a musician, insisted we do a waltz so we took all these classes leading up to our wedding day. Then as we began our dance, I realized he had composed a waltz for us! I lost it and literally cried until the song was over. It was the sweetest thing I could have ever imagined.

The Tampa Bay Watch, Tierra Verde, Florida

Our Q&A with the Bride:

What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

We wanted to support the Tampa Bay Watch, because they do such fabulous work in the bay. Their venue is gorgeous, and as soon as we saw the view of the water we knew it was the place for us. We loved that our money was going to a non-profit organization verses a traditional venue.

Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

The flowers by Stem were above and beyond my expectations. I almost fainted when I saw all the peonies! The food was amazing; Mekenita’s did an amazing job. The groom and the men in his family caught all the fish we served the day before the wedding, so that was special and delicious! I also loved the outdoor ceremony furniture. My dad made our chuppah and we brought in old church pews. It was as if we were in a church, our church, the beautiful outdoors!

Tell us about the one moment from your wedding day that you can’t stop thinking about.

Dancing with my dad. We both started crying. It was so special, so perfect, I’ll never forget it!
