Christian and Evan were married at Newhall Mansion in Piru, Calif. on April 5. “It took our breathes away the first time we saw it!” Christian said. The bride wore a sweetheart drop-waisted trumpet wedding gown, accessorized with her hair half-up/half-down in loose curls, while the groom wore a dark gray suit, accessorized with a black tie. Since they wanted to stick to their pink, gold, and hint of turquoise color scheme, bridesmaids wore satin pink dresses and carried peony, rose, and anemone bouquets. Notice the “something blue” brooch on Christian’s bouquet? “Everyone loves the little details,” she said. “It was my favorite thing about our wedding.” Guests were greeted with a chalkboard sign that said, “Choose a seat, not a side. We’re all family once the knot is tied.” The couple said their “I do’s” under a giant oak tree draped in white fabric. The reception followed with dinner and dancing on stage with the band, which just so happened to be the highlight of the night. And no one left on an empty stomach because Krispy Kreme doughnuts were served as late night snacks. Yum!
Shauna and Eric were married Old Newhall Barn in Newhall, Calif. on October 13. “I loved how it fit into my vintage, rustic look,” Shauna said. “Plus, it was in our backyard and very special to my husband!” The bride wore a custom designed wedding gown with a ruffled skirt, accessorized with a sparkly gray sash and “something blue” peep-toe pumps, while the groom wore a black suit, accessorized with a white bow tie and initialed cufflinks. “Our first look, I was so nervous because it was like meeting him for the first time again,” she said. Inside the barn, fabric draped from the ceiling’s wooden beams and mason jar candles hung from the walls during the ceremony. Tables were then decorated with burgundy linens, lace, and silhouette pictures during the reception. Notice it served double-duty? If dinner wasn’t enough, the dessert display was! Guests could pick and choose between lollipops, pumpkin pies, apple pie pops, chocolates, cookies, and taffies. At the end of the night, the newlyweds exited in a 1950s Hudson automobile with a “Just Married” sign hand painted on the back window along with soda cans trailing from behind. Not to mention the sea of sparklers too! Their best advice: “Hire a wedding planner!” Shauna said. “At least for the day of. It’ll make everything run smoothly.”
Kellie and Tyler were married at Temecula Creek Inn in Temecula, Calif. on November 30. The bride wore a sweetheart wedding gown with a lace bodice and ruffled skirt, accessorized with her hair down in loose curls, while the groom wore a dark gray suit, accessorized with a plaid tie and pocket square. Not to mention her custom Converse tennis shoes! Bridesmaids wore long pink chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of garden roses, ranunculuses, and dusty millers. The outdoor ceremony began just before sunset and was lit with plenty of chandeliers and string lights from trees. After the vows were said and sealed with a kiss, the newlyweds couldn’t help but show their excitement with a fist pump or two. Guests kept warm during cocktail hour with blankets, roasting marshmallows by the bonfire, and a cigar bar. A favorite moment during the reception? “Our first dance and the dancing with all of our family and friends,” Kellie said. Memories were built (and signed) onto Jenga pieces, mini bundt cakes were served as something sweet, and a grand exit was made with sparklers! “This is YOUR day,” she said. “No one else’s, so make it exactly how you want it and not how other people want it to be.”
Sandra and Brian were married at Barndiva in Healdsburg, Calif. on May 18. “Everything was in one place — the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception,” Sandra said. “The chef used to work at The French Laundry (3 star Michelin restaurant), and we’re BIG into food.” The bride wore an a-line wedding gown with a tiered skirt, accessorized with a gray sash and wedges, while the groom wore a black suit, accessorized with a patterned tie. “When we saw each other for the first time, we both cried hysterically,” she said. Following the Jewish and Taiwanese American nuptials, guests were served pass hors d’oueures, 5-course meal, dessert bar, and late night snacks. Wow, that’s a lot! Reception tables were decorated with all handmade items. “I loved that everyone chipped in,” Sandra said. “Our aunt sewed all of the table runners, the ‘maids made their bouquets from flowers we bought at the SF Flower Mart, my sister made the seating chart. Super special.” The table numbers were chalkboard wine bottles attached with a tag that said, “Draw on me,” and each place setting included a kitchen utensil or cutting board as a favor. The newlyweds’ best advice? “Pick the three things that are most important to you and forget about the rest,” she said. “Spend your money and your time on those three things and you won’t go crazy.”
Lindsay and Greg were married at Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla, Calif. on October 19. “It was a beautiful space that allows for a ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception to take place all in one area,” Lindsay said. “Plus, it was a blank canvas that we could customize and design our wedding style to.” The bride wore an sweetheart ball gown designed by Ian Staurt called “Antoinette,” while the groom wore a classic black suit. Bridesmaids shined bright in their long, gold glitter dresses, and the flower girl look oh-so adorable with her floral wreath in her hair. “Besides seeing my soon-to-be husband for the first time, it was so wonderful to se all of our family and friends together to celebrate such a special day with us,” she said. “We also included thoughtful details like picturing our family members on their wedding day at the dessert bar and also honoring those that served in the military.” The ceremony overlooked the Pacific Ocean with a dramatic arch draped in fabric, while the reception took place instead the grand ballroom with tall floral centerpieces featuring roses and hydrangeas and crystals. The newlyweds’ favorite part of the day? “The catering!” Lindsay said. “Appetizers like truffle grilled cheese and mini sliders with sweet potato fries . . . signature mojito cocktails . . .and a custom dessert bar.” Who could resist those donuts and layered mouse shooters?
