Carolina and Benjamin were married at the Twentieth Century Women’s Clubhouse in Eagle Rock, Calif. on November 2. “We knew our venue was the one due to how unique it was,” Carolina said. “It’s quaint craftsman architecture really drew us in.  . . the stage in the main hall, the foyer, the sunroom, the portico, and the lawn were all special features we’d never seen before.” Since they wanted their wedding to feel more like an elaborate house party, the couple opted for a “Day of the Dead” theme with lots of colorful do-it-yourself accents. Floral arrangements were a combination of both real and paper blooms, papel picado banners were hung inside and out, and clothespins secured escort cards. “The finished product of the escort cards on the wall was great,” she said. “I also loved the fact that people ended up clipping their own name tags to their clothes. It brought an element of fun to the wedding that I wasn’t expecting, and I loved it.” By the end of the night, you couldn’t help but notice all the smiling faces, positive energy, and dancing thanks to the mariachi band.

Kelli and Derek were married at Cava Event’s Rancho Rubalcava in San Jose, California on May 18. This 12-acre venue has amazing views of Silicon Valley. How’s the for a dramatic backdrop? The offbeat couple opted for a carnival-theme with lots of whimsical do-it-yourself details. The bride walked down the aisle wearing a strapless beaded lace wedding gown with pleated tulle tiers and a pair of “something blue” peep-toe pumps (only to change into sneakers shortly after), accessorized with her hair down in loose curls and a luscious bouquet of peonies. Inside the reception, umbrellas hung from the ceiling while guests enjoyed comfort foods like baby back ribs, bbq chicken, potato salad, and garlic bread. Yum! And let’s not forget about the popcorn and cotton candy too.

Angela and Carlino were married at The Lodge at Sonoma on September 28. “The outdoor lawn has an amazing rock wall around it that we knew would make a great background for the wedding ceremony,” Angela said. “And the stone building, where we had the reception, had incredible exposed ceiling beams hung with lanterns.” Besides the bride’s Maggie Sottero lace wedding gown with an illusion neckline, two of her favorite details were the flowers and entertainment! Bouquets were filled with orange and purple roses, dahlias, and orchids, and many guests raved about the mixture of music that was played. “We loved the entire day,” she said. “Having all of our family and friends there, the toasts, the food, and the music. It was a living dream. I want to go back and do it again!”

Tessa and Andrew were married at Holman Ranch in Carmel Valley, California on October 19. “We wanted a venue that could stand by itself as a simple setting supported by natural details, such as the view, the vineyards, and lush vegetation.,” said Tessa. “Holman Ranch does just that. The minute we saw what our ‘backdrop’ would be during the ceremony, we knew that it was the one.” No floral decorations were needed! The bride walked down the aisle wearing a Romona Keveza wedding gown to her groom in a classic black tuxedo and bow tie. The reception followed with their favorite foods from The Meatball Shop in New York. “Our caterers were able to get every detail from the meatball sandwiches to the ice cream sandwich station,” she said. “It was absolutely surreal to look around during dinner and see all of our closest friends and family sharing laughs, food, and great company.”

Chantel and David were married at Our Savior Catholic Church and held their reception at Villa del Sol d’Oro on August 10. “The unique architecture, design, and landscaping made it perfect for an outdoor evening event on the terrace,” Chantel said. “The Villa is two-thirds scale replica of the Villa Collazi near Florence, Italy, which is said to have been designed by Michelangelo.” The couple aimed for an elegant and welcoming theme with lots of candles. The entire inside and outside of the villa was filled with thousands. Imagine that! Following the church ceremony, guests also enjoyed al fresco dining, including marinated olives and fresh-baked breads.”When we were sitting at the sweetheart table, it was one of the few times we had to ourselves that day,” she said. “We were glowing in the moment of being newlyweds and surrounded by our family and friends.” One of their favorite details? The flavor-infused bottles of olive oil and balsamic vinegar served as favors.
