Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

HollyHedge Estate was the first and only wedding venue we visited. New Hope, Pa. is one of our favorite areas, so we were instantly intrigued. The second we arrived at HollyHedge, we knew.  It was the most beautiful, ethereal, rustic, fairytale place we had ever seen; too perfect.

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

1. Flowers – Mark Bryan and his team of experts did the most amazing job of translating what we asked for into the most amazingly beautiful floral arrangements!  They could not have been more perfect.

2. Table cards – Erin actually handmade our table cards himself.  They could not have been more darling and personal.  Just the right touch.  Our amazing wedding photographer, Rachel Pearlman took some amazing detail shots of the cards.

3. Toasts – Our families made such beautiful toasts to us during the reception.  In particular my mother, brothers and our bridal party.  So touching and sweet!

3. Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.

The first look.  I was led out to the fountain area in the front courtyard of HollyHedge Estate.  Erin was standing there with a pink ribbon tied as a blindfold across his eyes.  I was so excited and nervous at the same time as I walked towards him.  When I reached Erin, I took his hand in mine, and we told each other how much we loved one another.  He told me how he could not wait to spend the rest of his life with me, and I told him how lucky I felt to have such an amazing person in my life.  We turned to face each other, and I began to untie the ribbon.  As it fell away, I could see it in his eyes that were truly meant to be together.  We both felt so connected in that moment.  It was so special; like a real spark between two people.

Fairytale Blush Castle Destination Wedding in Ireland

Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

Planning a destination wedding makes finding a venue so tricky because you can’t always see the places firsthand. However, we already had the idea of an Irish castle in mind — paying homage to Robert’s Irish ancestry and my fairy tale fantasy — so once we searched the web it was quite obvious which to choose. Adare Manor is rated as a 5-star hotel, and the grand stature was immediately appealing. I could easily tell just by looking at the website that this was the castle I had always imagined! I would say the appearance itself is what sold me on choosing Adare as my venue.

2. Which four details from your wedding were your favorites?

1. The Irish dancers were the perfect form of entertainment for my wedding. They were so captivating, and they had the whole crowd entranced. I’m beyond thrilled that we chose to hire them!

2. The ceremony site I chose was another of my favorite details, despite the fact that we were getting married at a castle, I wanted the ceremony site to be natural and understated, so the focus was on the beauty of the unity. We chose to get married beneath two oak trees, which are symbolic in Irish Culture for truth, stability, and longevity. I loved the way the florist strung ropes of roses from the branches of the oak trees. It was perfect.

3. The centerpieces were beyond exquisite, and I can’t praise them enough. The florist alternated between tall glass vases and bird cages filled with blush and white flowers. The green amaranthus added the perfect touch of whimsical, which contributed to my enchanted forest theme, bringing the outdoors in.

4. My wedding photographers were one of my favorite aspects because they captured every moment just as I remember it and even many moments I didn’t have the chance to see. I have a new addiction and it’s looking through my wedding album! Looks like I’m not the only one because I’ve caught Robert in his office entranced by the wedding pictures instead of working! Sure, you could say that any camera could have captured the day, but that would be far from the truth. The B. Mello team was creative, attentive and professional. I will cherish the images for the rest of my life.

3. Give us the one moment in your wedding you can’t stop thinking about.

Every aspect of my wedding was spectacular and picking just one moment is so hard! I think the greatest moment for me was walking outside with my bridesmaids anticipating the hotel shuttle being out front to take us to the ceremony site, and being totally surprised with a horse drawn carriage! This was the one detail that I didn’t plan and when my wedding planner presented me with the option, I declined to keep the budget in check. I didn’t even consult my groom about it. Robert has a hard time surprising me for one of two reasons: either I pester him until he tells me, or he gets way too excited and spills the beans prematurely. But he pulled this one off and it was so special, It brought me to tears.

Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

My parents met and were married in Charleston in the early 70’s.  We moved around a lot as a family for my Dad’s work, but Charleston has always been a priority vacation spot for my family.  I saw the William Aiken House years ago and always knew that’s where I would want to get married.  It has a beautiful, Southern charm about it that just screams “Charleston!”

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

First and foremost would be the DELICIOUS food.  Our guests are still raving about it. I really loved the décor in the house.  It was simple and perfect, and I felt it really showcased the beauty of the house itself. We loved how the outdoor area was set up with the tent and dance floor.  The hanging lanterns on the inside of the tent gave such an elegant touch and gorgeous ambiance for the whole evening.

3. Give us the one moment in your wedding that you can’t stop thinking about.

My cousin and maid of honor had to undergo emergency open heart surgery a week before our wedding and was unable to attend because of this.  When I put my dress on the day of the wedding, there was a navy blue heart attached to the inside of my dress.  My mother then told me that my cousin asked the dress designer to attach this heart-shaped piece of my grandfather’s tie to the inside of my dress.  My grandfather passed away last November, and I was very close with him.  It was difficult planning our wedding knowing that he would not be there to watch me get married or to meet my husband.  It was such a sweet, special moment that really made me feel like he was with me that day!

Blush Summer Farm Wedding in North Carolina

Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

We knew we wanted a venue that was outdoors, had a country or rustic feel, and had water somewhere nearby.  So, when we discovered Morning Glory Farm online and went to go tour it, we fell in love right away. It had everything we were looking for.  It was outdoors, it had the country feel, and the pond behind the ceremony site just topped it off. The biggest thing that sold us most was the owner, Nan.  She welcomes you in, and you atomically feel like you’ve known her your entire life.  Not only was the farm matchless, but also Nan’s sweet and bubbly personality helped to reassure we had found the perfect spot to say, ‘I do.”

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

1. Our cross and kneeling bench from the ceremony.  The cross symbol in its self was very meaningful to us within our faith in Jesus Christ, and we wanted to definitely let it be present throughout the ceremony.  The cross was made by our coordinator and her family, and Aaron and my brother-in-law made the kneeling bench for communion, which made it even more special.

2. Our wedding invitations were handmade. We designed them ourselves, had them printed professionally, and then decorated all of them with doilies and lace as a special personal touch.  I incorporated the doilies throughout the entire wedding by using them with the invitations, the programs, and as place settings at the reception.

3. Southern style food is our all time favorite.  We knew we wanted BBQ, chicken, and southern fixings to serve to our guests.  We chose Jim ‘N’Nicks BBQ out of Concord and could not have been more pleased with the outcome.  The food was amazing, and we have heard nothing short of great things about our dinner choice and caterer.

3. Give us the one moment in your wedding you can’t stop thinking about.

When it was time to get on the carriage and go see my groom.  As I started walking down the aisle, it became true that everything else doesn’t matter any more.  I was so excited to see him and for him to see me.  I knew at that moment, it was really happening, and we were fixing to be married, fixing to spend the rest of our lives as one.  It was a special moment and something I hope I never forget.

Beautiful Blush and Coral Barn Wedding in California

Q & A with the Bride:

1. What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?

The beauty, the originality and the character of the Dana-Powers barn venue made me fall in love with it. Although is was just a “barn,” it felt like the most gorgeous and unique place to have a wedding. The surrounding hills were breathtaking and the furnishings and details that stood throughout the barn were something I couldn’t live without. No other venue we looked at could compare. All our guests didn’t know what to expect, and when they arrived that day, they were all blown away by the beauty.

2. Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?

 1. Walking down the aisle with my dad, being filled with so much joy and excitement, seeing Scott for the first time that day. Although I thought I’d be full of emotions, I was just so happy.

2. Seeing the flowers come together. I was overly pleased with what my florist did. They were all so beautiful throughout the entire wedding venue.

3. Enjoying all my guests and watching them all have a good time. Being with everyone and celebrating for one night made Scott and I truly happy.

3. Give us the one moment from your wedding that you can’t stop thinking about.

Exchanging vows will forever be the most sentimental and memorable part of my wedding day. Listening to the words of our pastor and looking into Scott’s eyes made me the happiest girl. And I’m so glad all our family and friends were there to share it with. Our pastor said some very touching words to our parents on our behalf, and it was another very special part of the ceremony.
