Kelly and Will were married at Brightfield Farm in Woodlawn, Tenn. on June 15. “Will and I wanted our wedding day to be a reflection of both of us,” Kelly said. “We chose to have it near Hopkinsville because we both met and started our lives together here. We wanted the location to be unique to us and immediately thought of a barn venue with a garden — something simple, shabby chic, vintage, and with a Southern feel. Once we found Brightfield Farm, we knew we found our perfect match! I remember as we drove up the long dirt driveway, I squealed to Will that I had a good feeling and that this might be the one. And it was! I did not look at another location after that.” The bride wore a lace v-neck fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown, accessorized with her hair down in loose curls and a pair of flats, while the groom wore a tan suit, accessorized with a bow tie and suspenders. Bridesmaids wore long pink dresses and carried bouquets of roses, hydrangeas, and dusty millers. “We wanted to keep the traditional vows for our wedding but wanted a meaningful unity visual,” she said. “We didn’t want to do the candle or the sand pouring, so we researched and found ‘God’s Knot’ where three strands of rope are braided together to symbolize husband, wife, and God, who make up the marriage. I made it out of rope that I painted: one pink, one sage green, and one white.” The only blooper during the ceremony? “The rings were on the ring bearer’s pillow so tight, we couldn’t get them off,” Kelly said. “The best man ended up ripping the silk tie with his teeth. Everyone clapped.” Guests were then free to play lawn games such as corn hole. Bonus: Dippin’ Dots was served to beat the heat too! Cocktail hour ended, and the reception started inside the barn. Tables were decorated with white linens, tea kettle centerpieces, tea cups, and vintage plates. Instead of a DJ, a band called The Pranksters performed. Two days later, the newlyweds jetted off to their honeymoon in St. Lucia.
Courtney and Adam were married at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston, S.C. on April 24. “I was going for a blend of ‘Gone with the Wind,’ William Faulkner, and ‘The Great Gatsby,’ Courtney said. “Magnolia Plantation was a blend of all worlds and incredibly beautiful with tons of open space for us to roam. Peacocks and other animals also attended our wedding, and we loved the ease of going from the ceremony to the reception. The moment I knew I had to go with it was when the events manager told us we could use sparklers on the front lawn.” The bride wore a strapless lace fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown, accessorized with her hair half-up/half-down in loose curls with a floor-length veil, while the groom wore a white button-up shirt and light gray pants, accessorized with leather suspenders and bow tie. Bridesmaids wore short pink chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of roses. “My favorite moment of the entire day was after we got married, and our guests went to the reception so that we could take portraits,” she said. “My groom and I had about an hour to ourselves with the photographer that was so intimate and romantic. We just let each other be in love and think about the coolness of the situation — we were officially official!” While the newlyweds were out and about the property, guests were encouraged to snap pictures on Instagram as long as they used the hashtag #vanossvows. Tables underneath the wrap-around porch were decorated with white linens, hurricane vase centerpieces, and quotes such as “Heaves to Betsy,” “Sweet as a Peach,” “Oh my Stars,” and “Bless your Heart.” Fun fact: “I made these signs with Southern sayings on them,” Courtney said. “The extra touches the caterer surprised me with were a s’mores bar and strawberry champagne soup.” Yum! The newlyweds’ best advice? “All the months of planning and showers and communication and drama means nothing if you can’t appreciate the entire day with the one you love,” she said. “I am such a planner and enjoyed the planning process, but I made a pact with myself on that day that I wasn’t going to fix anything, stress about anything, or way about anything. Just be.”
Samantha and Gibson were married at Angus Barn Pavilion in Raleigh, N.C. on July 4. “The grounds alone are simply breath taking,” Samantha said. “I have always envisioned an outdoor wedding near some body of water, and the Angus Barn definitely has it!” The venue held a special place in their heart as well. “My now husband proposed in the woods which are on the other side of the pond,” Samantha said. Talk about meant to be! The bride donned a strapless lace gown complete with a peach-colored sash. She wore her hair down in loose curls and carried a bouquet of blush roses. Her 7 ‘maids were outfitted in strapless blush chiffon gowns and carried baby’s breath bouquets. The groom opted for a more casual look in tan dress pants and matching vest, along with a cream-colored tie. His men wore navy dress pants and vests, and sported navy neckties. The couple exchanged vows by the water in front of 140 close family members and friends and had a beautiful wooden cross adorned with flowers and greenery as their backdrop. A wooden monogrammed letter acted as the guest book, and the reception tables featured white and burlap linens. Each table had blush and pink floral centerpieces set in mason jars, along with romantic candles. After dinner guests indulged in a three-tiered white cake. During the commotion of the reception, the couple was able to sneak outside for a moment alone, which ended up being their favorite part of the night. “We both feel that standing outside, watching the Brier Creek Fireworks whilst our loved ones mingled outside and boogied inside, was our favorite,” Samantha recalled. “It was the first moment that was simply ours.” Samantha’s best advice? “Remember, take some time for just the two of you, even if you think you’re being rude. It’s your day!”
Kristin and Conan were married at Memorial Hall in Cincinnati, Ohio on May 31. “It’s a beautiful historic building by one of our favorite architects Samuel Hannaford,” Kristin said. “The building has so much character and charm. Once we saw it for the first time, that was it!” The bride wore a strapless lace a-line wedding gown, accessorized with a jeweled sash, while the groom wore a light gray three-piece suit, accessorized with solid tie. Bridesmaids wore mix ‘n’ matched short blush dresses and carried bouquets of roses. “Overall, our wedding was filled with so much joy and love,” she said.”Really the entire day was magical, but if I had to pick one moment, it would probably be the ceremony.” It took place on the stage of the performance theatre. Guests sat in rows of red velvet padded chairs and listened to the acoustically perfect cello play as Kristin walked down the aisle to a mashup of Wanger’s “Bridal Chorus” and Bob Marley’s “Stir it Up.” “We had a knot tying ritual to reflect how I grew up boating and Conan fishing,” Kristin said. “We also wrote our own vows.” The reception followed in the Parkview Room. “It was all very DIY,” she said. “I really enjoyed how all of our signage . . the flowers, and invitations came out as well.” Tables were decorated with thrifted mercury glass vases, postcard names, and pieces of rosemary at each place setting. The favors? Homemade custom blend spices. The newlyweds’ best advice? “Stay organized and put lots of time and effort into your wedding to really make a reflection of you as a couple,” Kristin said. “Don’t worry about all the small things, as they’re not that important in the grand scheme. Just relax.”
Liz and Zach were married at King Family Vineyards in Charlottesville, Va. on April 26. “We were looking for a beautiful ceremony and reception space all-in-one, but it was very important to us to find a venue that had just as beautiful of a setting for our ceremony if it were to rain,” Liz said. “After seeing some pictures of indoor ceremonies at King Family Vineyards, we knew it was ours.” The bride wore a strapless ball gown, accessorized with a floor-length veil and a statement necklace, while the groom wore a three-piece gray suit, accessorized with a solid bow tie. Bridesmaids wore long blush chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of peonies, roses, and snapdragons. Fun fact: Liz also designed the invitations! “The moment before walking down the aisle is what stands out the most,” she said. “I was weirdly calm throughout the entire day of our wedding until I was standing at the double doors about to go outside. I was arm-in-arm with my dad. I could feel his pulse and my pulse at the same time and was lookout out at all of our family and friends waiting to watch us get married. It was an indescribable feeling!” Following, guests were direction inside for the reception. Tables were decorated with chevron patterned runners, mercury glass vase centerpieces, and candles. “I loved all our flowers,” Liz said. “Our cake table too.” A dessert display featured the two-tiered cake and cupcakes, which served double-duty as favors. The newlyweds best advice? “Hire a planner!” she said. “They will keep you sane during planning and relaxed on the day of.”
