Devin and Eddie were married at the bride’s grandparent’s home in St. George Island, Fla. on August 3. “I have always known it was where I wanted to get married,” she said. “My family has owned it my entire life. It is my absolute favorite place in the world. There was nowhere else I would rather have been on my wedding day.” The bride wore a flower embroidered tulle wedding gown with an illusion back and capped sleeved, accessorized with a headband in her short pixie hair, while the groom wore a tan suit, accessorized with a bow tie. “After a ridiculous, rainy summer, somehow it turned out to be clear, breezy, and not too humid!” she said. “I was waiting in my room while all of our guests were arriving, and I could see everything from my second-story vantage point. I was peeking through the curtains, along with my flower girl and maid of honor, when I saw my now-husband walking down the aisle with his best man. I couldn’t even see his face because his back was to me. Somehow, it finally felt real.” They wed before 85 along the shores of the Gulf Coast. Fun fact: ceremony programs were shaped like seashells. What did the newlyweds do after they were pronounced husband and wife? Jump for joy! Literally. Famous Apalachicola oysters were served and cocktails were displayed in a canoe. Koozies served double-duty as favors! Tables were decorated with striped linens, luscious centerpieces filled with tulips, ranunculuses, and kale surrounded by starfish and sand dollars. “Our cake was beautiful AND delicious!” Devin said.
Deborah and Laurence were married at The Ritz Carlton in Cancun, Mexico on November 27 — right after Thanksgiving! “The warm location, and the outstanding customer service of the hotel” made them know it was the venue for them! Who could resist that? The bride wore an ivory sweetheart a-line wedding gown with a ruffled skirt, accessorized with a sash tied in a bow, while the groom wore a black suit and tie. “Walking down the aisle barefoot with the sand between my toes . . . seeing my future life partner, family and close friends in front of this breathtaking ocean view,” Deborah said. “It was a moment of joy and tremendous gratitude with God for allowing everything I envisioned to be materialized.” The ceremony was strictly barefoot! Approximately 25 guests sat on comfy ottoman poufs, aisles were lined with wooden signs that displayed verses such as “love never fails” and “it is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily ignored, it keeps no record of wrongs” from 1 Corinthians 13. After the traditional Jewish breaking of the glass, the nuptials were sealed with a kiss under the chuppah. Dinner and dancing followed inside the ballroom. Farm tables were decorated with lit lanterns and candles, continent table names, and lots and lots of rose petals. The newlyweds’ favorite moment? “The song I wrote and sang for Larry,” she said. Hangover kits attached to bottles of water served as favors, and a grand exit of sparklers ended the night.
Lindsay and Greg were married at Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla, Calif. on October 19. “It was a beautiful space that allows for a ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception to take place all in one area,” Lindsay said. “Plus, it was a blank canvas that we could customize and design our wedding style to.” The bride wore an sweetheart ball gown designed by Ian Staurt called “Antoinette,” while the groom wore a classic black suit. Bridesmaids shined bright in their long, gold glitter dresses, and the flower girl look oh-so adorable with her floral wreath in her hair. “Besides seeing my soon-to-be husband for the first time, it was so wonderful to se all of our family and friends together to celebrate such a special day with us,” she said. “We also included thoughtful details like picturing our family members on their wedding day at the dessert bar and also honoring those that served in the military.” The ceremony overlooked the Pacific Ocean with a dramatic arch draped in fabric, while the reception took place instead the grand ballroom with tall floral centerpieces featuring roses and hydrangeas and crystals. The newlyweds’ favorite part of the day? “The catering!” Lindsay said. “Appetizers like truffle grilled cheese and mini sliders with sweet potato fries . . . signature mojito cocktails . . .and a custom dessert bar.” Who could resist those donuts and layered mouse shooters?
Kristina and Will were married at the White Orchid Beach House in Wailea-Makena, Hawaii on October 14 — all the way from Australia. The bride wore a sweetheart ruched a-line wedding gown, accessorized with a headband in her loose curls, while the groom wore a gray vest and pants, accessorized with argyle socks. Bridesmaids looked oh-so lovely in navy blue chiffon dresses and carried bouquets of all-white roses, orchids, and calla lilies. As intimate as the ceremony was overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the reception was even more so lit with a crystal chandelier, paper lanterns, and candles. Not to mention the palm trees! Each place setting featured a “thank you” tin for guests to take home with them. Can you guess what was inside? Well, it’s a secret.
Hilary and Gerry were married along Destiny Beach in Destin, Fla. on August 24. “Growing up, I always dreamed about getting married on the beach with my bare feet in the sand and the sound of the waves in my ears,” Hilary said. “My husband and I met at the beach, and he later proposed on the beach; it seemed fitting for us.” The ceremony took place before sunset with 12 of their closest family and friends (and two dogs) witnessing. Seashells lined the aisle and starfish decorated the chairs. “Our backs were to the sun, so we had no idea what the sunset looked like until we turned around and saw the most stunning pink skies,” she said. During the recessional, bubbles were blown! Hilary wore a sweetheart tulle wedding gown, accessorized with a turquoise statement necklace, while Gerry wore a white button-up shirt and khaki pants. Her bouquet and his boutonniere featured white roses and seashells from their parents’ honeymoon. How sentimental! Reception tables were decorated with burlap linens, gold charger platers, and illuminated with candles. The cake was their favorite flavor — red velvet.
