Mandy and Allen were married at a private lakeside residence in Eagle Mountain Lake, Texas on May 18. “The landscape was absolutely gorgeous with trees covering the entire front half of the property,” Mandy said. “We both wanted an outdoor spring wedding, so with such a stunning layout, we knew this was the perfect place for us.” Coming up with inspiration was the easy part! They both love the show MadMen and aviation. So, a 1960s mod travel-theme it was. The bride wore a v-neck lace fit ‘n’ flare wedding gown, accessorized with a statement necklace and shoulder-length veil, while the groom wore a white button-up shirt, black pants, and suspenders, accessorized with a bow tie. Bridesmaids wore flamboyant red off-the-shoulder dress and white gloves. The cutest attendants were the flower girls and ring bearer, who played the part of stewardesses and a pilot, respectively! As guests arrived, they were greeted with multiple destination posters from Los Angeles to London and vintage suitcases. “We decided to exchange our vows privately before the ceremony,” Allen said. “The entire day leading up to that was chaotic and filled with last minute tasks. The moment I turned around and saw her standing there, all the stress was washed away and everything felt completely right.” Plus, the reception decor featured patterned table runners, wooden airplanes, and mint vases and vessels. Music was played on a turntable with lots of oldie tunes from records, postcards served as the guest book, and even vegan-friendly food was prepared. The dessert display included multiple cakes, but that one that stood out most was the one topped with a R2D2 and Ariel from The Little Mermaid.
Ashley and Kevin were married in a traditional Catholic ceremony at St. Mary’s Church in Alexandria, Va. followed by a reception at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, Va. on September 28. “We chose an early 1960s vintage theme,” Ashley said. “The era reminded us of our grandparents, whom we love dearly, and it’s the time period of one of our favorite TV shows Mad Men.”The bride walked down the aisle wearing a lace mermaid wedding gown, accessorized with a chunky statement necklace, while the groom stood waiting in his classic black tuxedo and bow tie. “The look on my husband’s face when I said my vows” was Ashley’s favorite moment. “Bridesmaids received vintage handbags, long white gloves, and pink Ray Ban sunglasses,” she said. “Groomsmen had polka dot socks, fedoras, pale pink pocket squares, and white Ray Ban sunglasses.” The reception followed in the the renovated ballroom that featured stunning views of the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. Tables were decorated with tall floral centerpieces in mercury vases and vessels, and named after pop culture icons or trends like Woodstock. The newlyweds’ first dance? “All of Me” by John Legend.
