A long, sheer veil is typically worn as a headpiece, but this season, we saw designers incorporate tulle overlays on gowns. These overlays resembled veils draping from the shoulders, rather than the hair. It’s a mix of classic and modern – you’ll still get the drama of a long veil, but your hair will be free to accessorize in other ways (jeweled headband, perhaps?).
Reem Acra‘s new collection (left) featured a variety of mix-and-match gowns with removable elements, including sheer trains that fell from the shoulders.
This Ines Di Santo gown (center) features two trends: a high neck and a veil-like train – grand and romantic at once.
Layering tulle over lace has been a popular technique for a few seasons now (the addition of the tulle softens the look of lace even more), but we loved how Monique Lhuillier kept this style so light and airy.
