This weekend the Daily News in New York City ran a great article providing some ideas to brides and grooms looking to incorporate some eco-friendly options into their wedding as this ‘green wedding’ trend continues.  Some ideas that are highlighted include using soy based paper for invitations and save the dates or even simply emailing you save the dates to avoid paper all together (the email can look just like a card).  Other ideas include using a caterer or menu options that serve food that is locally and/or organically grow and even have centerpieces that can double as favors or be planted after the wedding.  The article touches on a few of the big things you can do, but there’s lots of options out there.  I’ve even started to see limo companies that offer hybrid vehicles.  Having ‘green’options as a part of your wedding is not as hard as it used to be so if this is fits your taste, have fun with it.

A little over a week ago, i did an eco-chic wedding that turned out fabulous and we came up with some incredible elements. As soon as the photographer turns over the pictures, I’ll be happy to share them with you. Pet friendly eco hotel, organic foods, recycled centerpiece elements, feathers, doggies in the ceremony and MORE! :)

One great way to make your wedding green is include Fair Trade chocolate favors. Divine Chocolate makes gorgeous dark chocolate mini bars that are perfect for favors of centerpieces. And they are vegan too. You can find them here:

Friends of mine made a donation to their favorite charity in lieu of favors. They also registered on JustGive.org for us to make contributions to two of their favorite causes (ASPCA and Surfrider). I thought it was a great idea and really reflected who they are as a couple. I overheard one guest who mentioned they saw the charity registry and although they had already bought a wrapped physical gift (i.e. the mixer off my friend’s Macy’s registry), they made a nominal donation to ASPCA as well.
