Lauren & Colin
Q & A with the Bride:
What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?
I grew up near Harkness State Park and always loved visiting it. I took Colin there when we started dating, and he ultimately chose to propose to me there on a snowy Christmas Eve. After that, we both knew Harkness was meant to be.
Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?
We chose white Victorian pitchers to hold the gorgeous flowers that Hana Floral created for us. We were looking for a garden party look that would echo the turn-of-the-entury mansion, and I really felt like it helped tie it all together.
The wine we chose for our wedding was all from Jonathan Edwards Winery, a local vineyard that Colin and I frequent. Not only was the wine delicious and paired perfectly with our meal, but it brought in a bit of a personal element.
Our place cards and invitations were designed by a family friend, and were created to highlight the details of the beautiful Harkness Estate. Notably the place cards echoed the architectural details of the mansion. Our invitations were designed to incorporate elements from the gardens of the estate with the a personal monogram representing our new family name.
Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.
In her 20’s my 95-year-old grandmother was a singer in Boston. On our wedding day, she approached the band and asked if they could play “All of Me” by Billie Holiday. Next thing we knew, were were all gathered around, watching my grandmother transform into her former entertainer role. She was filled with life and her smile lit up the dance floor. It was a special moment for both families and it stands out in my mind as one of the most memorable parts of our day.
