Whether you’ve selected one of these tunes or something else, let us know what first dance song you’ve chosen in the comments!
Music has been a part of wedding ceremonies for centuries. Usually, a group of live musicians or a DJ will play processional and recessional tunes, and sometimes even an interlude during the service. However, we’ve recently seen couples perform songs or dance routines themselves during the ceremony. Remember this video from a few years back?
And just this week, this video of a bride singing a Christina Aguilera to her groom as she walked down the aisle went viral – and received mixed reviews from commenters.
Of course, we’ve all grown accustomed to choreographed first dances at wedding receptions but we wanted to know what you thought about these wedding ceremony performances. So tell us:
And if you have more to say on the subject, feel free to comment on this post!
A very special thank you to local wedding DJ (and WeddingAce), Evan Reitmeyer of MyDeejay.com, for waking up early last week and joining the WeddingWire Team at Filene’s Basement’s Running of the Brides® event in Washington, DC!
Evan helped us get the crowd pumped up at this early hour with an awesome playlist. We had so much fun dancing and singing along to the new and old hits! Thanks again!

Have you ever been to a wedding when the DJ played a song that stopped you in your tracks, not because of its heartwarming tune, but because of its highly inappropriate lyrics? Take a look at our picks for the Top 20 Most Inappropriate Wedding Songs! Here is just a taste…
20. Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) - Journey
The only thing sadder than the death of a love affair which once held infinite promise is probably Journey lead singer Steve Perry’s rock mullet which can be seen in the original video version.
Sample Lyric: “Troubled times
Caught between confusions and pain, pain, pain
Promises we made were in vain, vain, vain”
Little Known Fact:
Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain and lead vocalist Steve Perry wrote this on the road during a period when two of the band members were going through painful divorces due to the stresses (and temptations) of life on the road.
