Whether you’re planning a wedding on a budget or not, you still want your guests to be entertained and kept on the dance floor all night long. Here’s some tips to help you decide between a DJ or band:

1. Ask for recommendations.

2. See them perform live before you hire them.

3. Consider the size of your venue.

4. Think about playing music for all age groups.

Which would you rather have at your reception?

Music has been a part of wedding ceremonies for centuries. Usually, a group of live musicians or a DJ will play processional and recessional tunes, and sometimes even an interlude during the service. However, we’ve recently seen couples perform songs or dance routines themselves during the ceremony. Remember this video from a few years back?

And just this week, this video of a bride singing a Christina Aguilera to her groom as she walked down the aisle went viral – and received mixed reviews from commenters.

Of course, we’ve all grown accustomed to choreographed first dances at wedding receptions but we wanted to know what you thought about these wedding ceremony performances. So tell us:

What do you think about couples singing and/or dancing during their wedding ceremony?

A very special thank you to local wedding DJ (and WeddingAce), Evan Reitmeyer of, for waking up early last week and joining the WeddingWire Team at Filene’s Basement’s Running of the Brides® event in Washington, DC!

Evan helped us get the crowd pumped up at this early hour with an awesome playlist. We had so much fun dancing and singing along to the new and old hits! Thanks again!
