Bridal portraits often come with wedding photography packages. Often they are shot a few weeks before the wedding, or a few weeks after as a “fash” or “trash” the dress shoot. Either way, you want to make sure that your own personal style and personality show through the photos. Below are two completely different types of shoots, shot on opposites ends of the world, to give you an idea of how style and personality can play a factor:

{Location: Germany| Photographer: Gasoline Photography}
Questions to Answer before your Bridal Shoot:
1. What location(s) makes me feel most like myself?
2. Are there props (books, umbrella, hats, etc) that would help portray my personality and add a special touch to the photos?
3. Should I look natural or hire a make-up artist?
4. Do I want to “fash” (wear as a fashion piece) or “trash” (possibly get it dirty and wear it for the last time) the dress?

We think your invitation says a lot to your guests about what to expect at your wedding and this idea screams originality. We know it’s not the most ideal, cost wise, when it comes to sending out 200 wedding invitations, but what about as a keepsake? A lot of couples frame their invitation set after their wedding, possibly with one of their professional photos. But here’s an idea you can put on your book shelf, and open it up whenever you want to reminisce.

Corrin + Dewey
January 2011
Washington State
Shannon Boettcher of fotoNovella (artistic photo-stories), encourages her couples to dream-up a date for their sessions whether it be for an engagement, first look, or just because it’s Valentine’s day. She says that “the personalized ‘dates’ make the sessions fun for the couple & genuine emotions easy to capture.” Corrin styled a Valentine’s dateNovella for her & her boyfriend, Dewey. Vintage bikes, toasted homemade alfalfa-sprout bread paired with a cuddle session in a vintage trailer fit their hippie-at-heart personalities perfectly.

Their Dreamed-up Date:
Dewey is a little bit hippie moving from place to place, from the mid-west to California & later the Pacific Northwest. For now, there’s a girl anchoring him in the tumbleweeds of Eastern Washington. Corrin’s okay with that…and for now enjoys making-out with him in his orange sofa chair & listening to Bob Dylan on his retro record player. Dewey is up for rides on their vintage bikes & wearing matching couple socks that make Corrin smile.
