Inspiration for your wedding decor can come from anywhere – and a favorite movie, especially a classic film like the1952 Gene Kelly/Debbie Reynolds favorite Singin’ in the Rain, is a great place to start. We love how the creative Savannah-based vendor team, lead by Morgan Gallo Events and Azelle Photography, took this idea to heart by creating a style shoot full of Old Hollywood glamour and a touch of whimsy. Of particular note are the bright color palette, old school-meets-modern lounge area, raindrop-inspired details at every turn (love that cake!), and the vintage umbrellas hanging above the dance floor. Who said that rain on your wedding day is a bad thing? Check out the stunning, inspiring photos below – plus a bonus video from this gorgeous shoot.

Janessa & Trey
November 5
Santa Rosa, California
Can you imagine saying “I Do” in the open sky? Well, that is what this couple wanted to do, and the did!
Janessa and Trey chose to get married in a hot air balloon because they wanted their wedding to be an adventure – just like their relationship. They wanted an intimate, exciting, beautiful, and fun experience that they would never forget. And they got just that. – Diane Askew, of Diane Askew Photography

Lucy, from Lucy Munoz Photography, gives us a behind the scenes explanation of how this shoot came about: “Our inspiration started with our love for the Earth and the organic components (water, air, land, and sunlight) that make it such an amazing place to live in. We incorporated these elements throughout our vintage stylized wedding shoot because of our love for nature and it’s earthy tones…

The table setting had a rustic log that was used as a vase. We felt that the addition of Chinese mums made it feel so alive and touchable. The silverware was wrapped in jute to make it feel more earthy and organic. We also added a musical request birdbath where guests are able to fill in their favorite songs that could be played throughout the night. We love that there is a sign on one of the bird that reads, “Hey song bird, can I have this dance?” The models Allyson Cunha and Miguel Cervantes wore vintage wedding attire that was relaxed yet fitting of the scene. The amazing Flawless Team lead by Nancie Serrano and Angie Torres conceptualized make-up and hair as a throwback to the 20’s. They put feathers in Allyson’s hair creating a synergy between the birds on the table and the element of air (one of our inspirational themes).
The gorgeous wedding cake was done by The Cake Mamas. We loved that they did the fondant in a pale blue (mimicking the water component). The compass also took from the water theme and the decorations kept it looking ultra vintage. Kupcakz etc did the beautiful cupcakes. We loved that they looked like old vintage ribbons that had fallen right into place.

Our surprise DIY component was the place cards. We thought it would be a great idea to recycle old tree trunks. We decided to use a log that had been previously cut down. We drilled holes and put in vintage looking doorknobs. The end result? A gorgeous eco friendly way to recycle and reuse previously cut down trees.

So how does it come about to do a style shoot in the loft of a barn? Erin Johnson, the photographer, explains:
“I asked Carly, from Girl Friday, to set-up an inspiration shoot. I told her I just wanted to show up and be suprised. Well, I was suprised alright! She called on some of our favorite people in our area…and pretty soon it was getting so big she split the shoot into two themes with two sets of models! This is the first theme. We’re calling it “eclectic hay loft wedding.” It’s inspired by Carly’s love of books, fonts, black and white stripes and her pug, Hank. Carly hung a 9ft story banner between dark brown curtains.”

Guest books are not for everyone, and sometimes a lot of the ideas we see can take up time that your guests should be spending with you at your cocktail hour or reception. Here are four ideas that are time sensitive, and quite fun!
1. Mad Libs ~
Quick and easy for the guests to fill out, but each one will have it’s own unique touch to it!

2. Photo Booth Pics ~
Have your photo booth company can print two copies of each photo booth session, have your guests put them into a photo album and sign their names.

3. Sign a Balloon (“Up!” inspired guest book) ~
You’ve seen the idea of having your guest sign leaves on your marriage tree, but this idea is so cute, especially if you loved the movie, “Up!”.

4. Inspiration from Love Poems ~
This idea is for a couple who loves poems, or phrases from a certain novel. I love this concept. It allows the guest to share words of wisdom without having to think of something unique and witty (not all of us are quick thinkers on this type of thing).
