Yellow and Gray Nebraska Wedding: Molly + Nick

Posted by Jeffra on Jul 13, 2011

Molly + Nick

May 2011

Avoca, Nebraska

This wedding was a total DIY by the bride. They had their reception on the basketball court in the small town of Avoca, and did a very low-key backyard style set-up, including paper plates and napkins, plastic utensils and folding chairs. This wedding could not be more adorable, we are so excited to share it with you!

Collect and Create Colorful Vases

Posted by Jeffra on Apr 21, 2011

Bold colors are always good to make a statement, especially in your centerpieces.  Color your vases to create a wow factor on a plain white table cloth or wooden table.  The best part about creating vases like these, is that you can use them later in your house, or give them away as favors after the wedding!

Decor Inspiration: Chalkboard Paint

Posted by Jeffra on Apr 07, 2011

Recently we had some fun in the office with chalkboard paint. And by fun, we painted two full walls, ceiling to floor, and they are now our erasable idea board. Made me think about all of the ways you can use chalkboard paint as part of your wedding decor. Obviously you don’t want to use it for anything like your guest book, because it can easily be erased, but for table numbers, menu signs, and photo booths, they’re perfect! Here are a few of our ideas:

5 Tips for Choosing Shabby Chic Details

Shabby Chic Details1, style ideas and trends do it yourself decor

If you’re thinking about doing a Shabby Chic style wedding, here are some of tips on finding odds and ends to make your decor complete.

1. Find an invitation with a “worn” look to it. It can include flowers, but the background should almost look like a worn piece of furniture.

2. Search for patterned china that matches your color scheme. Hit up an estate sale or local flea market to see what they have, too.

3. Find an old birdcage, preferably wood, but worn metal works too. Just make sure it has a “used” feel to it without looking dirty.

4. White ceramic vases are a must. These can be coupled with silver vases as well, but definitely snag a few of these for centerpieces, guest book table, etc.

5. Lastly, and most importantly, find a signature piece. You may even own one that is sitting in a warehouse or garage. If it’s not your desired color, look online for tips on how to give it a worn down “shabby chic” look with just a few coats of paint and a piece of sand paper.
