Accent your waist with a belt or sash, the go-to accessory to add both decoration and personalization to a wedding dress. Wedding gowns that are clean, with minimal or no ornamentation, allow brides to use the dress as a canvas to “decorate” and style as they see fit. The same dress can look vintage or modern, glamorous or simple depending on which bridal accessories are used to complement it.

Some wedding gowns are made with a belt to match, allowing designers to offer brides what they think will be a perfect fit. Here are some dress-belt designs from the runway, and bridal accessory lines you may want to check out.

Dennis Basso added a hand beaded and embellished belt to this strapless hand pleated fit and flare gown.

JLM Couture used horsehair, a stiff sheer material, enhanced with metallic beads, to add some personality to a clean ivory gown.

Alfred Angelo used a white satin belt with embroidery and beading front and center to further define a waistline on this basque waist ball gown.

A number of accessory designers hopped on the waist-detail bandwagon and are creating chic accessories giving brides more options to choose from, check out their designs for even more options:
