Alfred Angelo’s Fall/Winter 2011 collection is a mix of delicate fabrics with vintage details. New necklines, elongated silhouettes and full skirts are adorned with lace appliques, beading and floral details. Designer Michael Shettel drew inspiration from iconic big band singers: Peggy Lee, Doris Day, Dinah Shore and Rosemary Clooney.
Brides are sure to find a bridesmaid dresses to flatter any ‘maids figure and the range of colors from muted neutrals to bold hues will complement any wedding’s color palette.
In addition to the Alfred Angelo collection, Shettel debuted two new gowns for Disney Fairy Tale Weddings by Alfred Angelo inspired by Cinderella and Disney’s newest princess, Rapunzel. The Rapunzel gown is inspired by the character in the animated film Tangled and has a dropped waist silhouette with a pleated bodice, one shoulder neckline and an abundance of three-dimensional satin petals with beading, giving the appearance that the skirt is covered in butterflies.
Here are my four favorite dresses from the Alfred Angelo collection:
1 – Perfect for a daytime or garden-party reception, this tea-length, strapless ivory wedding dress is embroidered with ivory flowers and embellished with a floral detail at the waist.
2 – There were two wedding dresses constructed with a swiss dot fabric and this strapless ball gown with draping at the bodice was my favorite of the two. The softness of the fabric and the understated detail gave this gown a light and airy feel.
3 – Bridesmaid dresses often come in one color, but I love the contrast between this bold purple and bright red belt detail. This dress was shown in violet and cherry but there are a myriad of options available.
4 – Reminiscent of Eliza Doolittle’s gown in My Fair Lady, the illusion capped sleeves of this wedding dress are adorned with crystal beads, which follows along the empire waist neckline. The ball gown skirt has pickups and draped tiers…perfect for a black-tie wedding.
