Megan & Tyler
Poughkeepsie, New York
Q & A with the couple:
What was the one thing about your venue that made you know it was the one?
Even before we were engaged we said we would get married at The Grandview because of the amazing views. It is located directly on the Hudson River with the Mid-Hudson Bridge in the background. Multi-colored LED lights hang from the bridge’s superstructure which makes for a perfect backdrop in the evening sky. We had our reception in their Outdoor Ballroom which offered the feeling of an outdoor wedding, and allowed us to take full advantage of the stunning views and perfect June weather.
Which three details from your wedding were your favorites?
1. I loved my Lazaro wedding dress. The trumpet style fit me perfectly and the beaded bodice and platinum sash with handmade flowers made for the perfect amount of detail. If I could wear my wedding dress every day, I would.
2. Flowers/Decor/Color Scheme. Everything matched from our centerpieces to the groomsmen’s socks all the way down to the custom invitations and stamps.
3. Personal touches. Rather than the traditional bouquet toss we decided to present bouquets to my grandmothers. Also, on my bouquet we attached my grandfathers’ army tags, in their memory.
Give us the one moment in your wedding day you can’t stop thinking about.
Megan would say, looking great in her dress. I (Tyler) would say dancing with my wife for the first time; it was a beautiful thing even though I repeatedly stepped on her cathedral length veil!
Tyler would say, dancing with his mom. I (Megan) would say when they revealed the decorated outdoor ballroom to Tyler and me for the first time before all the guests were seated. Everything was exactly how we had planned it, from the centerpieces down to the wine bottle favors placed on the tables exactly how we had instructed. Having those few moments of calm, just the two of us, taking in all of our hard work was amazing.
