We were at the Phoenix Bridal Fashion Debut this weekend, surviving the 100 degree heat. It was great to meet so many of our engaged members along with the many WeddingWire vendors from the Phoenix area as well.
Meet Chris, our Southwest Vendor Relations Manager, who enjoys bridal shows and long walks on the beach.
The rings were out in full effect….It’s what we do.
While browsing the WeddingWire community pages, I noticed a few questions and discussions related to picking a wedding date. Something that seems straight forward, but couples are still looking for best practicesto picking a date. Examining responses from both wedding professionals and other couples planning their weddings, there seems to be commalities in items to consider when choosing your date such as:
Budget: Fridays and Sundays tend to be less expensive
Guests: Are most of your guest traveling or local residents? I personally have mixed feelings about weddings on long weekends b/c you’re asking guests to travel on their hard earned vacation days, but at the same time, a Sunday wedding on a three day weekend might make things easier.
Weather & Location: Seasons are different given your location and this especially matters if you’re planning an outdoor wedding. The Weather Channel offers a simple tool that shows average high and low temperatures for your city as well as the wettest and driest months of the year.
At the end of the day however, it’s your choice as it’s your special day. Just make sure you’re happy with the choice, you’ll have to remember this day for a long time.

What’s Alltop you ask? It’s basically a website with a collection of blogs related to various content subjects and the newly launched weddings section has included. Alltop was founded by Guy Kawasaki, marketer, venture capalist and columnist for Entrepreneur Magazine. So as you’re searching for wedding content on blogs across the web, this is a great place to start as it features some great wedding blogs.
A big thanks to Christine Tremoulet, a Houston Wedding Photographer (5.0 rating) for letting us know that we were included.
For coming out last night and ‘rocking’ with us at our first Time to Rock event. Last night we held a bride appreciation night along with the Making Memories Foundation, (they run the Brides Against Breast Cancer gown events), to give local brides a night off from wedding planning. The night featured a signature drink, the Blushing Bride, made with Support Her Vodka courtesy of the Making Memories Foundation. We had a chance to chat with lots of our local members and fellow DC wedding blogger Marissa from the Bridal Party Blog. Additionally, we had Dr. Maggie Daniels on hand to answer questions and offer advice on wedding planning. So thanks again to all that attended and we look forward to meeting our members in another city very soon!
Here’s a few photos from the event. More photos can be found on our Facebook page.
Not sure how much to budget for wedding flowers? Hop on over to the WeddingWire community pages. Right now there’s a good discussion going on about how much to spend on wedding flowers with some great advice from wedding experts and others planning their weddings.
Last night many of us here at WeddingWire got to meet with Darcy Miller, Editorial Director of Martha Stewart Weddings and author of The Bride’s Guide blog, and Wendy Kromer, co-author of Martha Stewart Wedding Cakes, at their Macy’s event. Darcy was presenting many of her great ideas on wedding planning with great photos from Martha Stewart Weddings, including their Today Show Wedding. Wendy then presented some great tips on wedding cakes offering ideas to make your wedding personal through cakes styles and decorations on and around the cake.
We appreciate them taking some time to hang out with us for a little before the packed event at Macy’s in Tyson’s Corner, VA. (Next event is in St. Louis this Sunday) Here’s some WeddingWire team members along with Darcy, Wendy, and Marc McIntosh, (in gray) producer of the Bridal Showcase Events.
Weddings have many colors associated with them, but if you’re looking for ideas relating to a specific color theme, our new Wedding Ideassection contains images of a few of the popular colors people tend to incorporate into the wedding as well as images with ideas for all components of your wedding (i.e. cakes, dresses, favors, etc).
Here’s a sample of images from weddings using green as a main color. It’s just a sample of the many images you can find in our Wedding Ideas section.

Last Friday was the Filene’s Basement Running of the Brides event in New York City where we had WeddingWire team members in line in the freezing cold trying to make a few brides experience that much better by giving away gift certificates towards their wedding dress.
Below is a video from the NY Daily News from the event. If you have yet to experience a Running of the Brides event, take a look.
