A very big thank you to Los Angeles-based bridal consultant, Wedding Jeannie, for an incredible job coordinating our I Do Redo! The result was simply beautiful. It was an extraordinary task to be completed in such a short amount of time (one week!) and Jeannie handled everything with class and grace!

I absolutely love this color combination! This shade of pink, almost a shell color, is so feminine and dainty but becomes sophisticated and has a vintage feel with the black accents. Very chic!

Purple and Brown Rustic Wedding by thestylemaison featuring Lipsy cocktail dresses
Purple was the hot color in fashion for fall, and I expect it to be equally as popular for weddings. Deep shades of purple are typically viewed as luxurious, regal and fancy. When mixed with brown and rustic touches in this inspiration board, purple takes on a completely different personality. Because purple can easily become overwhelming, be sure to incorporate neutral shades in as well. Instead of going with a purple bouquet, I decided to add a neutral cream bouquet.
The mix of glamorous and rustic elements adds interest. Instead of hanging lanterns from a tree, up the look by hanging a glamorous chandelier in the trees. Instead of a flower, have the groomsmen wear a peacock feather. Set up a cigar bar for them men at the wedding. These are all touches that add interest and incorporate the colors without being overpowering.
One of the ways to prevent your wedding look from getting to “themed” is to follow a rule of Coco Chanel. It was meant for fashion, saying before you leave the house always remove one accessory. However it holds true for weddings as well. When creating your look, step back and look at everything. Remove one or two details to create the perfect, subdued look.

Before you can really start planning your wedding there is one very important detail you have to make a decision about - your wedding colors! For some brides this may be easy, they may have had them picked out before the groom, but for others, choosing your wedding colors can be a stressful process. Well, I found a great tool that can help you select your colors!
Pantone Inc. is the worlds leading authority on color and provides color systems and selection to a range of industries world wide. I recently discovered a portion of their website called mood selector. The mood selector is meant to help pick out paint colors based on your personality traits or moods, but I thought this would also be a great way to select your wedding colors!
The way it works is that you go through a list of verbs and select words that describe how you want your wedding to feel. What words would you like others to use when describing your wedding? Once you are done selecting, click on the tab titled “your custom mood palette”. Here you will see all of the colors that relate to the words that you have chosen. Although you may have a random color here or there, chances are you will see a trend in your colors. For me, it was mostly shades of black, pink and purple, which is accurate because I want a black, white and pink wedding. . .but purple is my favorite color!

Good luck finding your own custom palette!

We have had a few days of Spring-like weather here in DC, so Spring is on my mind! What better way to Spring forward than a sweet and cheery color palette of yellow, green and a hint of blue! Think garden party meets simple and chic. I love this cake from K. Rose Cakes - it’s such a great centerpiece for a wedding reception and it served as my inspiration today!
