Ugliest bridesmaid dresses

Posted by Brian

DBC, a local PR firm here in Washington, DC sent us a photo of some of their employees sporting their ugliest bridesmaid dresses.  How’s that for a dress-up day at work?

Have you had to wear a really foul bridesmaid dress?  Leave a comment with your story.

Fun Ideas Friday

Posted by Brian

In my searching through my feed reader this morning, I found two really creative ideas I thought I’d share.  The first comes from photos on The Bride’s Cafe.  On her blog today she’s got amazing photos of an outdoor wedding which you should definitely check out.  But this one stood out to me.  What an easy and creative way to do french fries that your guests will surely compliment you on.

The second creative idea is more for living spaces.   If you haven’t been to ApartmentTherapy.com I highly recommend doing so as they’ve got great ideas for almost any type of living space, especially smaller places.  Today one of their bloggers posted this picture of a unique container for planting that I thought everyone would enjoy.  Bring a piece of the suburbs to your deck in the city.   Happy Friday!

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes

Posted by Brian

Here is my gift to you ladies for Valentines Day…ShoeTube. Yes, it’s exactly what you’re thinking: a website dedicated to videos about shoes. ShoeTube is very new so selection of videos is still growing, but users can upload their own videos and they have a production company making their own videos in various cities around the country as well. So if you’re looking for ideas, perhaps this can be one stop on your journey to find the perfect shoes for you and/or your bridesmaids.

Now I’ve always been a fan of the mash potato martini idea, but here’s taking the idea to a new level: Mac and Cheese Martini’s. I found this image on the flickr page of Blue Orchid Designs. What an easy and creative way to ensure guests remember your wedding.

Disney’s bridal business: The Mouse House is teaming up with designer Kirstie Kelly to sell wedding gowns for between $1,100 and $3,000 - part of the company’s effort to expand its line of princess paraphernalia to older customers. The Disney Princess line has apparently become a huge revenue source within the company’s consumer products division. The dresses are inspired by Cinderella, Snow White and the other Disney characters. From the Wall Street Journal:

In thinking of ways it could reach outside the core princess crowd of 3- to 6-year-olds, Disney homed in on women who had grown up with the characters. Brides seemed an obvious target. “Most brides, even the cynical ones, want to be a princess on their wedding day and see their husband-to-be as Prince Charming,” Ms. Kelly said recently at her bridal boutique in the upscale Brentwood district of Los Angeles. To date, there are no plans to offer prince costumes for grooms. But don’t expect the gaudy princess costumes that kids run around in. Ms. Kelly says her designs are more about capturing the “mood” of the princess than creating an exact replica of each of the cartoon characters’ outfits.
