It’s hard to believe that the beautiful pages of Martha Stewart Weddings have been inspiring brides for 15 years now! We had the great pleasure of attending their amazing anniversary party this past Monday night at The Plaza Hotel in New York City.

Ballroom at The Plaza
Many of the wedding industry greats were at the event to celebrate with the Martha Stewart Weddings Team which is a true testament to the magazine’s power and influence.
Here are a few images from the event. And, in true Martha Stewart Weddings fashion, no detail was overlooked. It was a perfectly planned party!

Thanks for the inspiration. Here’s to the next 15 years!

Butterflies have always had a bit of fantasy and whimsy about them. A new trend I love is incorporating butterfly details into your wedding day. You can choose to use butterflies as subtle additions to the reception or even as a complete wedding theme. Butterflies add an especially dainty touch to outdoor, spring weddings. What recurring theme are you having at your wedding?

In honor of the 4th of July holiday tomorrow, I thought we should feature a patriotic inspiration board today. Nothing says summer in America like a red, white and blue color palette!

I absolutely love this color combination! This shade of pink, almost a shell color, is so feminine and dainty but becomes sophisticated and has a vintage feel with the black accents. Very chic!

I have seen the above photograph before and always wondered how this aisle runner was made. Did they buy a ton of flower petals and lay them down? Wouldn’t they blow away or be dragged by the brides gown? Well. . .I finally found an answer: petal fabric! Edley Associates Inc sells 3′ square flower petal tiles, or custom 25′ by 3′ aisle runners. The flower petals are attached to a fabric, making them easy to lay down and walk on! They come in a wide variety of colors and styles so you can find the right combination for your wedding day!

I love the idea of a flower aisle runner, especially for an outdoor wedding! There is little need for other decoration as this aisle runner is the center of attention! Be sure when using aisle runners to rope off the center aisle prior to the wedding, meaning guests will need to be seated via the outside aisles.
You don’t have to use this just for aisle runners. Be creative with uses, such as decoration for the cake table. They also have flower petal ribbon available as an alternate option. This can be used to rope off the aisle before the start of the wedding, to decorate chairs, or many other uses!
What uses could you find for this fabric?

Purple and Brown Rustic Wedding by thestylemaison featuring Lipsy cocktail dresses
Purple was the hot color in fashion for fall, and I expect it to be equally as popular for weddings. Deep shades of purple are typically viewed as luxurious, regal and fancy. When mixed with brown and rustic touches in this inspiration board, purple takes on a completely different personality. Because purple can easily become overwhelming, be sure to incorporate neutral shades in as well. Instead of going with a purple bouquet, I decided to add a neutral cream bouquet.
The mix of glamorous and rustic elements adds interest. Instead of hanging lanterns from a tree, up the look by hanging a glamorous chandelier in the trees. Instead of a flower, have the groomsmen wear a peacock feather. Set up a cigar bar for them men at the wedding. These are all touches that add interest and incorporate the colors without being overpowering.
One of the ways to prevent your wedding look from getting to “themed” is to follow a rule of Coco Chanel. It was meant for fashion, saying before you leave the house always remove one accessory. However it holds true for weddings as well. When creating your look, step back and look at everything. Remove one or two details to create the perfect, subdued look.
