The WeddingWire Social Atlanta was a fashion and beauty-themed treat for brides-to-be! The event was held at Neiman Marcus in the Lenox Mall, and was hosted by local bride Mone’t. Guests were welcomed with champagne, wine, and hors d’oeuvres, and enjoyed a fashion presentation featuring designer looks for pre-wedding parties—and some gorgeous lingerie, too! Afterwards, Tom Ford Beauty selected one guest to receive a total makeover and guests were able to ask the experts questions about makeup application and skin care. A lucky raffle winner received a pair of pearl earrings from Neiman Marcus, and all attendees received gift cards.

Some incredibly talented Austin wedding vendors joined the Sunday soirée to share expert tips and creative ideas covering every aspect of planning including food, drink, beauty, décor, entertainment, and beyond. Last week, we hosted our very first WeddingWire community event in the Los Angeles area! Brides, grooms, bridal parties, and friends gathered on the rooftop Skydeck at Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach for bites, beverages, and wedding planning tips! Lindsay Longacre, of LVL Weddings & Events, shared expert advice and led a lively Q&A, with topics ranging from venue selection to budgets to first looks. Couples exchanged engagement stories, swapped celebration ideas, and toasted to their upcoming nuptials. It was a fun and informative evening, and Heidi Ryder Photography captured it all on camera!

Huge thank you to everyone who attended and to our partners: Shade Hotel, LVL Weddings & Events, and Heidi Ryder Photography. The Skydeck at Shade was the perfect venue for this sunny shindig – the first of many community events in the LA area!

WeddingWire Social Phoenix: A Recap

Posted by Kim on Aug 10, 2015

Hi! I’m Tiffany, a bride-to-be from Phoenix, Arizona, otherwise known as HereComeTheYorks on the WeddingWire Forums. One day I was pursuing the forums and noticed a bunch of ladies talking about the Phoenix area, their venues, bridal shows, etc. I thought, “How can I meet all these women?!” What better way to reach out to them then to start a Phoenix meet up group. I was overwhelmed with the awesome response that I received, so one of the ladies from WeddingWire reached out to me and we immediately started coordinating an event. After coming up with a date, time, location the rest was history. Amazing how a small gesture can turn into such amazing friendships.

Fast forward a couple weeks… Mimosa brunch?! Uhhhhhh, yeah! It was a great, stress-free way to meet new people! About one mimosa in, everyone was having a great time getting to know one another. The grooms had made their own man table to probably avoid talking about wedding stuff. The ladies started a little “who am I” circle and gushed about our wedding venues and the colors we chose and quirky things about wedding wire that we liked. It was amazing to see how many different types of weddings everyone was planning in the same area.

We discovered date twins, color twins, and even venue twins! It was great to be able to compare experiences with brides who were further along in the planning then I am and to compare with my new found date twin about the progress she has made in planning her wedding.

Also I cannot forget to mention all the fun freebies that were donated to the meet up! I was able to raffle off a few prizes donated from Fabletics and JustFab. We also had WeddingWire swag bags with sunglasses and koozies for everyone.

Since the event we have made a local group page where we can post about things we are searching for from wedding cake vendors and photographers to realtors for brides moving to the area! We are actually getting ready to have an impromptu gathering to welcome a new bride and her future husband to the area.  I am so excited to see what WeddingWire Phoenix has in store for future events!

3 Reasons Why You Should Attend a WeddingWire Social

Posted by Guest Blogger on Aug 03, 2015

Hi! I’m Jackie, a soon-to-be bride from Columbia, MD. After a couple months of obsessively reading the forums on WeddingWire, I thought it would be fun to meet some of the couples in real life…and the Silver Spring WeddingWire Social was born! We met for dinner and drinks and had such a great time. Now, I know some of you are thinking “hmm… a social sounds like fun, but I don’t know about meeting strangers from the internet…” so I compiled a list of reasons why you should attend (or even host!) a WeddingWire Social:

  • You get to meet amazing people – I exchanged emails with some awesome people at WW and met a bunch of great brides (and two brave grooms!)
  • You get to have a couple hours of wedding talk without anyone thinking you’re crazy – we’re all getting married and we all know how easy it is to obsessive (and talk) about all the little details. Not a single person there thought it was weird that we talked about weddings, and only weddings, for a solid two-and-a-half hours.
  • You get different perspectives on wedding planning. We had one bride that was getting married in October 2015, one getting married in August 2016, and a bunch in the middle. Some were planning destination weddings, some were local, weddings at vineyards, weddings at hotels, guests lists from 40 up to 300, and all price points. It was great hearing about all the differences and similarities between our weddings.

I could go on and on, but for the sake of time, I’ll summarize. Yes, we are strangers on the internet, but by the end of the social, you’ll have amazing new friends who will understand when you freak out that your mom added 20 extra guests to her list, your dress arrived with a stain, or no one seems able to fill out a RSVP correctly. The WW community is amazing online – we’re even better in person!
